None of our WRs have had a legit opportunity to get their hands on the ball. So I agree with the OP.

I've wondered about this also--I think Randle has excellent hands & had the fewest drops of any WR that I can recall last season. He wasn't always thrown too as much as most of us would hope--with JJ taking most of the snaps, it is often a real challenge for a WR to look good.

Funny play if you guys still have it on your dvr...the long pass to randle where he cuts back to the middle....look at one of the bama players that literally runs right past him because he thinks someone else has the ball

RR is getting this treatment because he was the #1 WR the year directly after Julio Jones and AJ Green came out in the same recruiting class; By all accounts RR was represented to be as good or better that JJ and AJ Green, and since arriving at LSU has not been nearly as productive as they have.
Being compared with those two quite often during his recruitment has lead to criticism because he has not proven himself to be as good as them yet, but still has two years to do so...

Yeah I don't get it. It'd be one thing if we had a reliable QB and he was putting those numbers up, but there were multiple times he was missed on a wide open streak.

It's a Rivals network story. Not Tigerbait, scike knight.

you're basically saying the same thing as the writers.....
How is he able to prove himself with the lack a passing attack?

RR will be fine. This next year he will be the go to guy, last year it was TT. This next year Mett will be a good passer and JJ will be improved. All this will help RR to get the ball in his hands more. Isn't RR going to run back punts?

I dont think the article was actually slamming RR I think it was talking about LSUs offense as a whole from the last two years.

No you're not. I'd be willing to bet that aside from the 44 catches there haven't been 10 other balls he could even get his hands on in two years. Throw this man the ball with a consistant level of accuracy seventy times in a season and and I'll predict he hauls in 60-65 balls for over a thousand yards and eight or ten touchdowns. It's only the uninformed or ignorant who could have watched all the games the last two years and say this kid underperformed. Throw him the damn ball. You'll see him perform.

most national writers would just look at his stats and think he hasnt been any good
anyone that has watched LSU consistently knows how good he is. He is the best YAC WR at LSU since Josh Reed
its a shame he has had one of the worst QBs in LSU history throwing to him

Some Quixotic Tiger Fans will find any perceived sleight-no matter how small, how inconsequential, how obscure-and blow it up so they can flail at the windmill and be an "LSU SuperFan".
They're the same ones that make blanket generalizations about how you "hate Les Miles" when you call him out on a bad decision.
Sounds like the OP was started by one of those types, because I haven't read that about Randle ANYWHERE else.
My personal opinion: Randle is a beast. If he had a QB worth 2 sh!ts who could handle a route tree and the concept of a "route progression" or "check down", he'd be an even bigger beast. As it is, he'll more than likely get one extra year out of his collegiate career, which is actually a good thing.
That's because he'll want one more year of excellent production with a decent QB, since we won't give Mettenberger the reigns from jump street because of Les' Loyalty Problem.

All true Lester. No disrespect to JJ but many of the throws intended for RR the past two years were uncatchable. I think he's the best YAC receiver returning in the league next season.

I heard Billy Gonzales speak prior to last season and he said, guys we have 1 guy with experience, meaning tolliver. Ruben randell will leave Lsu as the best receiver we have ever had! I know that's a bold prediction but he is farther along at his age than Dwayne bowe or Josh reed. Randle is filling out and will be a fierce blocker at 6 3 he has excellent speed and is a playmaker! Our qb play has been so pathetic that I have to put some of the drops on poorly thrown balls. There were a lot of open guys last year that were not hit because Jefferson CANNOT read coverage, he has never looked off a db in his life and that's why the wr's numbers suck. They have dropped some balls but there young. Young wr's drop some balls. Get ready for Ruben Randle mania this season!

He is billed to be a superstar. Their were plays to be made last year that a superstar would have made and Ruben didn't make them. AJ Green makes them routinely.
That is the difference. I'm not saying those plays routine, they weren't. But! they needed to be made. I'm thinking Jefferson's first INT against Auburn went off Ruben's hands. I know it was a bad pass, but a super star makes that catch. I can remember a few others that would have been amazing catches, but he didn't make the catch. That is the difference between elite and just a good receiver.
Ruben can be elite with his talent. But he has to start making those plays that nobody else can make.
