last 5 in and last 5 out according to d1baseball before tournaments started yesterday

quote:

Last Five In: Illinois, Texas A&M, LSU, Kentucky, Washington

First Five Out: Arizona, Troy, Louisiana Tech, Michigan, Louisiana

IDK if it's in order or just random.

But Illinois playing Indiana right now
Texas A&M 2-0 they are in
LSU 1-1 still on that bubble
Kentucky 0-1 Still on the bubble
Washington plays Stanford #2 in RPI 3 game series
Arizona play Oregon who has a losing record 3 game series
Troy beat TSU
LA Tech Losing to Rice
Michigan beat Iowa in extras

Looking at this no-one bellow us has done enough to upstage us. D1baseball could be completely off but it's a good gage.

There are other at-large teams at play, but these are the ones we probably have to keep the closet eyes on.

It’s important to remember context. D1 assumes all the 1/2-bid conferences have “chalk” champions. 3 or 4 won’t happen that way.

LSU is in, period. SEC is 10 team league. SEC teams eliminated are Bama, Tenn, Missou, and KY.

Do the math.

Dallas Baptist lost a team with a losing record and an RPI of 191. Dropped them from 37 to 45. This may help us as they are a bubble team. Need Missouri state to win that tournament.

If 11 are in, LSU is fine. I agree. I just can’t see it yet. Lsu needs another non-home win

I agree.

A mid 40s RPI on a .500 SEC team going 1-2 in the tournament isn't a very strong case.

A 13-18 conference record isn’t a very strong case for Kentucky either.

Looks like it’s happened once in 11 years.

They won't see that as the conference record fwiw. 13-17 just like A&M. Now I'm not saying UK didn't hurt themselves by not winning that game, but they've got a better RPI than State and beat them head to head just a couple weeks ago.

It likely will be with a loss. I think that's what he's referring to. I think if we win today, 11 SEC teams get in.

Actually the committee includes any games against conference teams as part of your conference record. This includes conference tourny games as well as neutral site midweek games like Miss State-Ole Miss play every year. On the committee's worksheet they will have Kentucky's conference record listed as 13-18 and A&M's as 15-17. Ours would be 16-16, etc.

Good to know. That helps us.

based on what? Our RPI started the day yesterday at 41 and ended at 40 with a loss. Playing the #33 RPI team at a neutral site probably isn't going to move the needle all that much.

We were at 38 before the game then 42 after the game. Came back to 40 after some help elsewhere. The loss itself cost us 4 spots... To the number 1 RPI team. I don't think it's too crazy to assume a similar drop after a loss today. But yes, we could come back down with help again.
