LSU's SOS is 16. Mississippi State's is 9. LSU has 3 more wins. Are 7 spots in SOS enough to be the difference in an RPI of 42 and 27? Make 0 sense.

LSU is in over Kentucky. I think most would agree with this. You're putting LSU 11th in the pecking order.
