The airplay button shows on my phone but it doesn’t play through AirPlay.
On the iPad I can attempt to do it from the lock screen but it doesn’t play on AirPlay.

also, video default to auto. you can click the settings button and pick 1080p. much bettah

I don’t know what other tips and tricks I have to share. I went through the setup process last weekend because I had to air play the Tennessee games. So my TV was already set up to receive it.

If you have a fire stick or fire cube download air screen from the Amazon store and you can airplay through it
I had same issue and it’s working for me now using my ipad using screen mirror
