I'm sure seniority played a bit of a role in this one but I'm glad to hear he has made the most of his recovery and is playing to his potential

quote:

I am very happy that the offense put up much better numbers than in the first scrimmage. I am also very happy that senior running back Richard Murphy is having a solid Fall camp and appears to be the starting running back for the season opener against UNC.

quote:

Murphy led all rushers with 61 yards on six carries, including touchdown runs of 23 and 20 yards. Murphy also added a four-yard TD run during a goalline portion of the scrimmage. Michael Ford added 52 yards on seven attempts, including a 28-yard burst, while Stevan Ridley chipped in with 32 yards and one touchdown on eight carries.

Per Dandy of course

No ... per LEs as I read it...

All this means is that he'll line up for the first snap.. and rotate out..

However, given the work ethics of this fine young man and the fact that he wears the 18....

I hope he blows UNC up, and has a steller senior year...

I still think Ford has the most upside but Richard has paid his dues and I hope he has the oppotunity to succeed...

Murphy is working hard and making good on every opportunity given to him. He also knows what to do out there. I won't be mad if he's the starter and brings that same determination on game day.

I really don't get this seniority stuff. why can't a senior be better at times? I think pat peterson, mo claiborne, richard dickson, jo barksdale, al woods, drake nevis, josh downs, have all played as true frosh. dickson started as a frosh, barksdale, mo, and peterson as true soph. woods, nevis, and downs continue to play a lot. Then you have b. taylor starting last year as a true soph. hurst is starting over shaw at tackle, shaw is the uperclassman.

this year it appears montgomery, adams will start over the uperclassmen at their position. tyrann mathieu will see playing time over uperclassmen as a true frosh.

that's a lot of players that have played or will play over uperclassmen.

Murphy has earned his starting position thus far. I hope he holds up as the go-to guy.

We've heard good reports from Murphy before. I think we'll know early in the first game if he's taken that next step. If he can cut and hit the hole without slipping or tripping over a lineman then I'll be excited. Until then cautiously optimistic about Murphy but not concerned about our running backs.

Not sure where I read this a while back.. but I read that he was a wild man in High School after coming back from knee surgery his next year. If any indication, I expect him to have an awsome year and be the #1 RB in the SEC this year! POSITIVE THIKING!

You can't earn playing time through practice! Don't you read the rant?

I've been saying that a lot of posters have sold Murphy short.
He versatile, he's experiecned and he compliments Ford and Ridley.
Again I think he'll lead in all purpose yards, absent injury.

I really don't see why Murphy can't get another year of eligibility granted to him for last year. It seems like a medical redshirt would be allowed.

I just can't stand the fact we are only going to have Ridley and Murphy for one year of meaningful playing time.
