Same situation for me here. Being there was wild. The stadium really was hyped the whole game. We certainly caught a few breaks throughout with some of their players boneheaded plays. The defense can clean up some of those mistakes like missed gap assignments and we are looking like a better team.
Offense was much better after we got a run game going. It was interesting to see the 26 yard run and another one later on, we basically schemed those huge holes open which I think Sloan has to get credit for. Heavy sets one direction had them totally leaving the opposite side open to get gashed.

"Not the path an elite team takes'
That's because we aren't an elite team.YET.
It's not the teams fault you have unrealistic expectations for this team.
New OC relatively new at play calling, first time starting QB.,Lost 3 1st rounders including Heisman winner. RS Freshman at center. Young RB's but you thought we would be elite out of the box?
New DC, Freshmen everywhere. Bu you thought we would be elite right out the box?
There is a lot to be positive about and enough to criticize but get off the "it's year 3" crap and appreciate what's being built. Or actually what's being REBUILT. Not to mention the commitments BK is getting.

Agree with you universally except for this. That’s a 6-7 win team. Would have been a horrible loss.
But as Georgia showed us, these things happen.

Sure but we were defending Sellers pretty well in the 2nd quarter already.
Eh I mean kinda. The fumble drive was bad for them. But besides that in the 2nd quarter SC had a field goal, 1 play for a 10 yard TD, 1 play for a 75 yard TD, and a 33 yard drive that Sellers got hurt and then the half ended.

S C is a very good team too

Anyone who expected LSU to be "elite" just because it's year 3 of Kelly's time here, is a dumbass.
We had to replace a TON, it was always going to be a work in progress. It would be that way no matter who's coaching.
Unlike lots of people here, I think the play-calling has actually been pretty good. Why? Because Nuss, for the most part, has looked extremely sharp. Lots of quick passes on the money to open guys.
That's him and the WRs, but it's also the play call. These guys are open due to the play, and he knows where to look. It could be better at times, but we're working on that. You'd like to see a better run game, but they've been sticking with the shotgun because that's what Nuss is more comfortable with; that limits the types of runs we can have. You get Nuss more comfortable throwing from under center, and then you can run from those formations too- and then Jackson likely becomes a LOT more effective, because he's running downhill on dives.

I was there too and I was actually very excited and jacked after the game, I know there was and are concerns and they are understandable but I was a bit taken aback by how some folks reacted - almost like it was a loss in some folks eyes from my interpretation.
To adjust, adapt and overcome a 17 point lead - in that environment, and if you were there it was more evident live than on tv (I rewatched as well) there is something to be said. I was fired up, stayed after, sang the alma mater and cheered the kids.
The kids were really excited to. I think the way we won that game will help us down the line and I think we'll steadily improve.
I do think on defense we just don't have the talent we have come to expect here - there are many reasons but in the end that's on Kelly.
But I think we can cobble it together enough and get better and I really have confidence our offense will be more than fine.

USC east actually. Visiting same as we did. That defense is stout, hopefully they get beat up in that one.

Carolina IS a good team. Ie- the going to Lexington and whipping arse 31-6.
“Yeah, but Kentucky sux”?
Tell that to UGA.
Remember our ‘97 team beating vandy (28 point underdog) on the road 7-6, only to follow up the next week by beating #1 Florida ?
You can’t use the transitive property in sports. Particularly SEC fb. It was the perfect (sand)storm. College gameday’s first visit following up on an impressive win. Big, electric crowd. Quick 17-0 lead and they didn’t pack it in. Says a lot about the culture and heart.

I was kind of the opposite on the rewatch.
I have no doubts about Nuss' skills or that he can win us a lot of games, but we definitely should have lost that game. Two pick six's and another end zone ball that should have been intercepted.
The defense was getting torched and was lucky the backup had to play for numerous series. And even with the backup and it being an almost guarantee they were going to run the ball, they still broke off a long TD run. Then the starter comes back in hobbled, and even more of a guarantee they were running it, they still move the ball.
We got out with a win, that's all that matters and you need to get lucky to win games from time to time so I'm not going to complain, but it wasn't a pretty win and not a ton of good takeaways from the game for me.
Really really wish they'd let Nuss tuck the ball and run a little instead of doing a read option where it's 100% certain that he's going to give the ball off. Defenses just sell out on the run and it's easy to stop. Once or twice a game let him tuck it. He's a better athlete than he's able to show. When he has had to run he actually has a little bit of wheels on him. Just something to keep the defenses on their toes.

Great, telling stat about playing from behind so often. Many have criticized BK about taking ball first when they win the coin toss, I wonder whether part of that calculus is to try and reverse that fall-behind tendency with his teams.

Not saying ur wrong but hearing almost this exact same thing after every loss is a problem imo. Why can’t our coach ever figure out who his best players to play until it’s 1 loss too late?
