The thing that stung the most, with the gift of hindsight, was O’s postgame interview. He was beaming. The broadcast was full of accolades for how he handled everything going on, including bringing John Robinson aboard.

Unbelievable how quickly that world unraveled, devolved into COVID-land, and O lost his mind.

It amazes me in that game we scored 50 and it still seemed like we had a ton of missed opportunities and points left on the table.

I still think Woodward jumped the gun - O had earned the chance to turn things around. 2020 was a non-season, so it was really just one .500 year after 15-0.

lol no.

Orgeron didn't give a single shite about actually coaching after 2019 and the longer he hung around the more damage that would have been done

If we are being honest he should have been fired after 2019

I hate when people say that, because it assumes the success was because of O. Anyone with a brain knows that wasnt it

O has only had 1 season with more than 9 regular season wins in his coaching career. If you count his interim seasons, he has the same amount of non-winning seasons as winning seasons. The totality of his coaching career and back-to-back .500 seasons was a reason to cut the chord IMO.

Corrected.

To be completely honest, BK had JD, Nabers and Thomas and the #1 offense in CFB. All he had to do was field a semi-competent defense and he has his 2019 season.

I love what he's done with recruiting and the portal and he is positioning the team for a playoff run, but you don't get opportunities like what he had with that 2023 offense very often.

We also weren't nearly as bad as the record showed post championship. Just baffling coaching hires and little to no care anymore. Should have won 7+ games each season 2020-2021.

14 players from the 2019 team were drafted an Chase and Shelvin opted out just before the 2020 season started. Pelini was a nightmare hire and O basically phoned it in all season. The 2021 team had bizarre coaching choices, but Daronte Jones actually had the D playing well at the end of the season.

It's the dream season scenario for a lot of ranters. Go undefeated, win the national championship, fire the coach. Only thing missing is playing the backup QB in the title game for the victory.

This always gets repeated on TD, but there’s zero chance y’all know if this is true or not

It's a fair point. But Orgeron's own actions and words, specifically about hiring Pelini, suggest he wasn't very engaged for a guy running a top CFB program.

Fits most of the old description of the 'perfect season' for Tiger fans.

= "Go undefeated, unscored on, Heisman Trophy, National Champions, fire the Head Coach."
