Chances are they know more than we do about the specifics at Baylor during those issues.
Who gives a shite? Perception is reality and if we hired Briles, the message to the football world would be that LSU doesn't care about character, just winning.

Terrible, terrible decision if true.

That's not how Big 12 ball works. Score 50. Hold your opponent to 45.

Petrino "not even being considered," but Briles is?

I personally don't care for either one of them coming to LSU. Not that they aren't fantastic offensive coaches, but they both have past transgressions that would come along with them.

Miles seemed like a decent man who treated everyone with respect. I liked that. My issue with Petrino isn't about him chasing some younger gal around, it's that he lied to his bosses about what was going on. The way he acted like a poor loser to Les back in 2011. And of course, every where he has coached, he has left some kind of mess in his wake.

But it's not my decision who is hired, so I'll try to support whoever is chosen.

What the frick are we doing this for???

I agree. He's 60 years old (two years younger than the guy that just got canned) and has never coached outside the state of Texas. Not to mention the PR nightmare it would be for the school.

I might...MIGHT...be okay with him if they are only attempting to bring him in as whatever this "offensive consultant" thing or whatever it is that seems to be all the rage this season, but he should be avoided for the head man job.

Listen I know most people don't wanna hear this but the thing that happens to Briles happens everywhere... they just unfortunately went public... he is a VERY good offensive coach and if we retain Aranda that could be an amazing combo

Obviously I prefer Herman but he's THE hottest name now and with USC having a vacancy and UH having a lot of success we might not even get a shot at him.

This is a Herman-or-bust situation in my opinion. He's the ONLY "homerun hire" out there right now. Everybody else would be a consolation prize.

I could definitely see this turning into a regrettable termination.

It would be unconscionable to hire Briles in light of the fact that he's a dirty SOB who has no care at all for women, especially those raped by his own players.

Furthermore to hire a coach who will have no problem recruiting rapists is pretty problematic.

He had a chance to apologize on national tv and DIDN'T.

You people are buying in to the ESPN hype about Art Briles and not facts. Briles stepped on UT and they stepped back using inaccuracies from Texas Monthy and the ESPN owned LHN.

Briles didn't get a fair shot.

You need to explain all of that in more detail.

may be a little slow....but if JA fires Les today and doesn't have his man already in his pocket....he deserves to be fired.

That's not the way this works. You're not lining up a new coach this quick. Maybe discussions have begun but I bet that's it.

LSU is a top 5-top 10 job. We don't need a guy with Briles' baggage. Like someone said, let Idaho State give him a second chance.

Nope. Just getting Briles his old job back at Houston, after Herman comes to LSU.

It doesn't matter what the truth at Baylor really was. Briles is damaged goods. The court of public opinion has buried him and LSU has no business trying to rehab his image as the fricking head coach of your program.

Really? So you were okay with "public opinion" dictating what happened with Miles last year?

You've lost credibility here. There has to be standards in a society, and just completely disregarding the truth is not the standard we should live by.

I assume you'd be okay with going to prison for something you didnt do? Getting a speeding ticket when you werent speeding?

Good to know you have no interest in truths or facts. Im not sure what any of your arguments really stand on if thats the case.

Is that how people should live their lives? Based on opinions that have no basis in fact?

Like I said, if in fact LSU reached out to Briles, it probably means he's more in the clear than the highly uninformed on here think. I think you and everyone else on here is an "expert" and knows all the details of everything at Baylor top to bottom, but you just may have to be angry for awhile if hes hired.
