I'll support LSU no matter what but I honestly hope they rule these NFL guys ineligible for 2 main reasons.
1) you can't go pro and come back. The line has to be drawn somewhere and thats where it needs to be drawn. I feel the same way about RJ Luis. I get the 5 for 5 thing makes it a gray area but its only gray because of the courts. The NCAA said these guys aren't eligible even if they didn't go pro. At some point enough is enogh.
But more importantly:
2) It could and probabaly will ruin some lockerroom chemistry. The players currently on the team were sold a bill of goods and the terms are changing on them at the last second. I liken it to being hired to be the magaer of a store only to have them hire a different manager your first week and demot eyou to shelf stocker. I get that life isn't fair but thats not a good way to build lockerroom chemistry.
I 100% understand why Kiffin is recruiting these giys. Its better to have them than your enemy have them but I hope the conferences make blanket rulings across the board not to allow this shite.

It’s gray because the NCAA fricked it up initially by not allowing 2022 players.
I think all of this is ridiculous, but I do think these players have a case. They’re saying they wouldn’t have gone pro if they knew they had another year in college. Maybe it’s a lie but it’s very plausible that it’s true.

sooooooo LSU saw the inevitable and got out ahead of it so guys would be able to join the team immediately and not wait on the legal process ???? OMG THOSE BASTARDS!!!!!
again....your school turned a blind eye to your coach banging staffers until he sucked and they saw it as a way out of his contract and that's really on the tip of iceberg for issues in that athletic dept in recent years.
Point being, stop living a lie and believing any of the elite programs have any moral code. The big 10 has shown in recent years they're as dirty as any SEC program they've tried to appear holier than thou over.

Because he got his injunction or TRO or whatever it is BEFORE the NFL draft. That same thing can't be said about these other players.

He did it to try to make the 2026 LSU football team better. Which is perfectly fine.

I understand the argument and I tend to agree they have a point BUT a line has to be drawn and if you allow them to play then next year someone (probably Lane Kiffin) will try to get some guy that gets cut next year to be eligible and once that ball gets rolling, any guy that doesn't make the NFL team will be suing for eligibility. Its just too much.

It’s a 1 year issue. If they announced 5/5 in January instead of July, we don’t have this issue.

It does, which is why the NCAA should've implemented the 5 for 5 before the draft and actually gave these kids a choice in the matter. The purposefully waited. They knew the mess it would create, but they don't give a shite because they're run by an absolute clown.
The fact you're ok with a guy playing his 6th season after getting a bullshite court ruling and not 5th year players who got fricked by the NCAA is sad.

No, the courts are just calling out typical NCAA inconsistencies. Had they approved this plan in a timely manner, you don't have this problem. As usual with the NCAA they knew this and just hoped it would work itself out. "Meh none of those guys in training camp will challenge this, we're good"
pre-NIL I'd argue yeah these dudes were going pro anyway but in the NIL era you can't necessarily say that's true. Pyburn could have gotten a big offer from LSU and chosen to stay knowing his draft stock wouldn't change much barring injury. So why not go back to school, make good money, and possibly play for a title, something he hasn't done at either school. You couldn't ask these guys to wait until August for NCAA to put the rule officially in place.
I don't like it but these guys have a legit argument and it's not like this will now be a yearly thing. It's unique circumstance but self inflicted by the NCAA

hypothetical player wasn't forced to make a decision due the NCAA delaying the inevitable.
really Chambliss opens up a much bigger can of worms than this situation does
