just my take...even if for some reason we continue to falter and not even make a regional, much less a super, or Omaha, CPM will not be fired just yet...

now I am not saying we are at the top of our game right now and neither is CPM but we all know his track record, despite the ravings and rantings on our beloved TD will not get this man removed if this season continues to tank...

if that happens, and things follow suit next year, then I think a move could and would be made...

PS -- I freely admit I have not one SOURCE regarding this post and also freely admit I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP ON OUR TEAM or OUR HEAD COACH just yet...

I feel the same way, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he retires.

The only way CPM is gone after this season is if he retires

Available? This is LSU. With a competent AD, everyone should be available.

The same was said about Woodard.

Not to mention Woodard would do the negotiating

This is when I remind people that Texas who has just as much baseball history at LSU was turned down by all the top guys before hiring the coach from Tulane. That very well may work out for them and a coach like that could work at LSU but the fans need to simmer their expectations of being able to go get an established guy at a power 5 school when more than likely they would get an up and comer from a smaller school. Again not saying it’s a bad thing but it is closer to reality.

Personally I would like to go get the young guy that is hungry to prove he is ready to win at this level. I’ve never been a fan of going get the already established guy from a big school. That’s in any sport. I want the Will Wade’s of the world.

You guys can continue to throw out the 7 names everyone knows that coach college baseball but none of them are coming to LSU. They are established at their current places that won’t want them fired because they don’t win a NC 5 out of 10 years like Skip did.

I disagree all seven would say no.

Your thinking that they wouldn’t want the pressure, but if they are good it may actually be an easier job (at times) for them given LSU’s resources. I would imagine at least one of them would be tempted by the idea to coach at LSU.

Tell me, how long has CPM been at LSU with winning 1 championship? 12 seasons?

You telling me a great proven coach couldn’t at worst replicate that and be here for a bit? And that they all would be too scared? This is the #1 premier baseball school in the country.

I’m not speaking as a fire CPM fan, just considering options if he’s to retire sometime soon.

I agree though that it doesn’t have to be any of these guys. Seems like guys like Deggs would be a solid hire.
