True, and at that point, O was coming off a decent interim stint and nice bowl win.

That’s what i never understood about the post 19 hires. We had not been in such a buyer’s market in God knows how long, maybe ever. And all we could get was Pelini and Linehan.

Both of O’s interim stints are so overrated when you look at what he actually did. He never should have been a candidate but it absolutely should have ended after the UF game

Well said! So if all O is supposed to do is hire the coordinators and let them do their job why are we paying him 7M for something the AD could do? He's a cheerleader at best and supposed to be the face of the program and it's a shitty look at that. He doesn't represent LSU with any class at all. That bush league crap yesterday was a prime example of his low class attitude. There isn't a P5 school in the country that would hire him as HC. Maybe not even a G5. He's got to go!

No denying it was because of Burrow but it also fit perfectly in what O is good at which is to find the best coaches and players. Doesn’t look like it’s working anymore

Except that’s not really true. Ensminger found Brady. Aranda found Busch.

Basically anyone else worth a damn was already on staff when O took over.

It’s pretty sad how bad he has been.

I got I good laugh at all the original Orgeron haters who suddenly loved him and acted like he was a top five college football coach

It was pretty obvious 2019 was more luck than anything. Really a perfect storm

Oh I don’t disagree with that at all. More of an on the surface thing and the bowl win was encouraging. But yeah absolutely. The wins were over teams we clearly would have beaten even with Miles. The “close” loss to Alabama wasn’t really that close. Bama was able to play it safe with a freshman QB because they knew we had virtually zero shot of scoring. And the Fla game was an inexcusable loss.

Still couldn’t believe Scott Rabalais back then making an argument for O getting the job.

Was there ever really anyone doubting that Burrow saved Orgerons job for a while??

The entire state and local media is to blame for pushing him. O spent 2014 working his way into their good graces and promised them access once he got interim to make it seem like a good PR move.

When Paul Finebaum became his biggest champion, anyone with a brain should have stopped to consider what was actually happening.

Bingo. The national media wanting this to happen should have raised some eyebrows at least knowing how the view us. But we are Louisiana and we do Louisiana things

I don't think this is clear at all from the articles on Brady's hiring. Esminger brought him in for the Saints coaching session and was blown away by him.

The fact that people have argued that O can't coach the defensive line because he's too busy doing other things for our program is one of the funniest things I've heard in years.

We’ll always have 2019, but it sucked eating crow that year knowing good and well that we’d never get near that high water mark again and would much more likely spiral than prosper moving forward.

Hell I think the COVID season actually helped earn him a temporary pass as well.

This isn't being discussed enough.
