Remember recruiting Clyde?

I vividly remember 1) the stargazers who said he was just backup option if we missed on Akers and that he’d probably never start and 2) everyone comparing him to Guice (who also went to Catholic) saying he wouldn’t be able to follow in his footsteps. Everyone thought we had settled that year at RB and that he’d maybe be serviceable one day. Even beginning of this year, everyone was saying “give it 3 games and Emery will be starting!!”. People probably wouldn’t have been surprised if he went undrafted this year.
1,414 yards
6.6 avg (compare to 2015 Leonard Fournette’s 6.5)
2,081 all-purpose yards (2015 Fournette had 2206 and 2016 Guice had 1716)
All-SEC
1st round pick (to the super bowl champs!!)
The absolute odds this man has overcome. Here’s his recruiting profile just for lolz 247

Facts a classic haha. But outside of that, nobody was really excited about him at all

He sure did have his way with Bama.

This can’t be right. I’ve been told multiple times on this board these people are paid to evaluate talent. They can’t be wrong.

How disappointing it was that Moses faked injury to not take the spanking he deserved.....

I remember sitting next to his dad, little brother and sister in the stadium....his dad was very excited and cheering... I told my wife ....celebrate now cause probably the best part of his life....(figured he would do ok ....just not this level of ok)
Clearly I do not know squat about football....
I plead ignorance.... The most amazing observation was what a wonderful family they were...involved father...and siblings that were cute...and just all around nice....
Very impressive family...glad for his success and his families success at being just that... a solid family....

Reading that name is almost laughable given the offense he was recruited to play in and the one he actually ended up playing in lol! Jeez feels like the Les-Cam offensive era was ages ago, so glad we are where we are now

HIs senior year Clyde essentially single handedly beat Rummel in the State Championship.
As a Rummel alumnus I am pretty glad to see that we at least lost to a first round RB.
But at the time I was like "frick how tall he is, RBs can be short"

I went to watch Guice at Catholic when I visited, and came away more impressed with the sophomore Clyde. Came away from that game thinking Guice wasn’t going to pan out, but was happy when Guice performed well and thought Clyde was going to be a steal when he signed. Then Clyde played backup for a few years, I begun to rethink my evaluation.lol. Boy did Clyde make me a believer again this year.

You have to give Orgeron credit for CEH. He kept talking him up and saying how good of a player he was when nobody was really paying him any attention and the only thing many of us knew of him was that GIF.

Dang that’s really interesting, I always did hear that Clyde really really shined at Catholic. Can you imagine a HIGH SCHOOL playing you with Guice AND Clyde?!?

Clyde was always my favorite player on the 2019 team

I saw Will Wade wearing a CEH jersey in Tiger Stadium last year. Now what?

Clyde was a 4-star in some services and Clyde committed to LSU before Cam Akers chose FSU. He was a take regardless of Cam or Etienne.
Yes, Clyde did fly under the radar nationally and was dissed by Tiger fans a bit before this past season.
And just like Dalton Hilliard, he was not some unknown reach. Both were well known in the region and welcomed additions.
Clyde is a success story, for sure, but don’t make a cause celibre of him. He’s been great since his freshman year at Catholic.
