I remember about 8 or 9 years ago, there was a call that was really controversial, and no it was the PP7 int that wasn't called but I think the ref and his entire crew were fired in the weeks after the game.

Kind of remember a game that Oklahoma was blatantly jobbed by a PAC 10 officiating crew. First time really hearing refs being publicly punished for incompetence (or homerism).

He started to say it to Holly after the game before he caught himself.

He absolutely told the team this (there is video) in the locker room.

Once it goes to review, it’s not his call to make.

But why did he see it and not call it on the field when it was his call?

After watching the replay on the OT JD run for a TD, I was Shocked they didn’t call a block in the back on Taylor. He engaged the defender from the front and when he lost his position, due to the defender turning at a different angle, taylor continued to engage him by putting his hands on his back with a slight nudge. You can tell Taylor was conscious of what he did as he raised his hands up as soon as JD passed them by. I’m thankful they didn’t make that call as those are the calls that get made against us when we play Bama.

the rule says “control”. No complete control. And it doesnt define control.

Soccer players control the ball all day long without holding it. The rule is written ambiguously. The ruling on the fiend should stand.

Taylor blocked him then the guy turned as Taylor was about to hit him again and his momentum caused him to hit him in the back. He immediately pulled back when he physically could.

I don’t know if they didn’t see it or saw there was no intent on the part of Taylor but I’m surprised this crew didn’t calm it.

It shouldn't have been targeting, but it damn well should have been a PF. You can't just hit a QB that's sliding.

In that game the replay official was in the statium and was a Bama grad. Go figure.

I thought for sure they were going to call Taylor for the block in the back. That typically gets called against us vs Bama. Did they really not see it or just let it go because they screwed us several other times already? Birmingham was definitely trying to affect the outcome of the game. No doubt.

Ok sure. But it didn’t. I’m not a ref and I didn’t make the call. Write the sec office in Birmingham and bitch to them

I recognized it most of the game. Wingo's pressure up the middle was getting Bryce Young off his spot and disrupting his rhythm as a passer. It's hard to quantify the job Wingo and Jacobian Guillory did in the middle. There are no stats for it but their push up the middle really effected Bryce Young all game long.

Wingo must be in top physical condition because he brought it at a very high level from the first snap to the end of the game.

I’m sure Brian Kelly will have a few things to say to Birmingham.

because not all officials are supposed to be watching the same thing, in fact two are rarely watching the same thing. each field officials has their own keys and zones to follow as a play develops, sometimes these zones and keys overlap. But the official that is SUPPOSED to be watching something has the call to make UNLESS it is an absolute train wreck(which that was not)

Right but if you see something you say something. Regardless if it's "your call" that's why they huddle up before making calls to see what the others saw.

This is why it wasn't called, because it wasn't a block in the back. He engaged him from the front and the defender turned while engaged.

It would have been a BS call, he did not push the Bama defender down. The Bama defender ducked under him, it was never a straight hit a guy from the blind slide in the back. The way it worked out, the Tip ball on the PI for Bama not going LSU's way and that call not being made ultimately made the game be decided on the field.

The turnover reversal plus this play and then the hold on 40 were 6-10 points that Bama did not deserve.

Dont forget the hit on Daniels a full two seconds after he had given himself up that was call a no hit even though he clearly was hit.

Are you sure? I watched the replay last night and it seemed he did to me, but I guess the Replay booth saw it differently.
