Go to the 20s mark. If one of the refs saw it, then why was it “not his call to make”?

I would say unbelievable, but it was a critical play that Birmingham could press their thumb on the call and give Alabama a second life. Sucks we had to basically go for two to eliminate the potential for another shite call, but it makes the win even more satisfying that we beat Alabama plus 7.

Completely validates what we saw which was a clear bias to keep Bama in the game. The turnover reversal plus this play and then the hold on 40 were 6-10 points that Bama did not deserve.

And agree, makes the win sweeter

Bill Lemonier, the Former NFL official that works with Fowler and Herbie said it was tipped.

LSU got the raw end of 2 booth reviews, the fumble where Brooks clearly had possession before the Bama TE touched the ball while out of bounds and this one on the tip with the PI.

The reversal on the Personal file on JD5 was questionable but after watching the replay tonight on SEC Network he does not seen to have made contact to the head so Herbie and Fowler thought it was a good reversal.

yeah I'm glad they didn't call that a foul. Can't imagine that a defender could play that any better than he did.

I remember about 8 or 9 years ago, there was a call that was really controversial, and no it was the PP7 int that wasn't called but I think the ref and his entire crew were fired in the weeks after the game.

I forget exactly what teams were involved. I want to say one of them was UGA but I'm not entirely sure. I do remember the controversial call and the ref and his entire crew were canned. He was a little skinny guy. Not Ritter, not Steve Shaw..... maybe someone else remembers what I'm talking about. If not, oh well.

I saw the reply of Wingo's hand and you can see his fingertips get bent backwards, even on the replay. Especially in slow motion.

How the replay official and/or the ref didn't see that (or didn't want to) is beyond me.

SEC refs......

I like James Carter but he's about the only one.

That fumble recovery Bama player out of bounds BS was just that. BS.

That was ridiculous.

I'd say that for any other team, it's not because I'm an LSU fan. That's a stupid rule.

Officials are supposed to assist each other on calls if one did not have the best angle. What kind of response is it that an official says its not his call. If he saw it he is responsible to say it.

Speaking of Wingo how impressive was he last night. He's strong as an ox definitely stood out so glad we have him for a few more years

Wait a minute, does he bring his lunch pail to work? Is he a real student of the game?

There is no doubt that the pass was tipped, it can clearly be seen in the video that Wingo's finger was bent back as the ball passed by his hand.

That is 100% prove the ball was tipped, a finger does not bend back on its own.

That is one major reason Kelly went for the win, the refs could not be depended on to make the right call.

I do look for the touching out of bonce rule to be changed in the off season.

Hell, they changed it THIS year. Five yard penalty AND loss of down.

PP7 intercepted a pass against Alabama and the Refs ruled he was out of bounds. Replay clearly shows PP7 was not out of bounds

I still think targeting should have been called in the first quarter.

His fingers were clearly pushed back by the ball. I'm OK with them not calling it because of the spirit of the rule and this was just not enough, but you have to apply that consistently. The 1st half fumble recover that was negated should have been allowed then if we're going to consider rules with subjectivity.

Does not apply when the offensive player is forced out of bounds.

because not all officials are supposed to be watching the same thing, in fact two are rarely watching the same thing. each field officials has their own keys and zones to follow as a play develops, sometimes these zones and keys overlap. But the official that is SUPPOSED to be watching something has the call to make UNLESS it is an absolute train wreck(which that was not).
