re: Reese & HVL have until 9PM to make a decision UPDATE: Reese declares, portal for HVL

quote:look, HVL was putting out max effort. No one doubts that.
I want to give HVL credit for the all out effort she put out defensively throughout the tournament but she was just so bad offensively that it overshadows that effort.
But it wasn't just her offense that was terrible against Iowa. Her defense did nothing to slow down Clark. Hell, Clark scored 9 points more than her season average against us.
So yes, HVL's effort was there, and we all appreciate that, but the results were poor, on both ends of the court.

Pretty sure the 9 pm deadline is for declaring for the WNBA draft. HVL could still enter the portal.

Just "who" has really stopped Clark this season??? Anyone to speak of.

I am sure HVL is taking some time with her decísion. I’m also sure she’s had at least one heart-to-heart talk today with CKM who told her kindly but firmly: “If you return next season, you’ll be coming off the bench.”

But we should’ve been able to slow her down.
Hell, if we’re merely held her to her season average of 32 points, we win. But we let her utterly dominate us with 41 points.
Only 3 of Iowa’s 37 opponents allowed her to score more points than we did, and one of those went to overtime.
16 of 37 opponents (including 6 of the last 10) held Clark under 30 points.

If HVL is coming off the bench. What makes you think she will make it in the wnba.
Maybe she goes home to udub.

CKM coached poorly this game

I didn’t like Kim’s strategy to defend her. She didn’t see 1 dbl all night.
After the first quarter when it was clear HVL had no chance, we should’ve been sending a dbl and living with the other players taking open shots

I love Kim, but damn, her defensive strategy on Clark was a complete failure. We let Clark score 41. Only 3 of Iowa’s 37 opponents allowed her to score more.

Where did I say she was going to make it in the WNBA? I didn’t say she would or she wouldn’t. But your speculation is credible that UDub may be a possible landing spot.
Here? Williams and Johnson are the starting shooting guards. And you can bet that CKM is NOT running back the HVL-Poa PG situation. Williams and Johnson will be joined in the backcourt by the best damn portal PG Kim can get.
And that will likely be DeeDee Hagemann from Michigan State. Contact between her and LSU has already been initiated. Google her if you’re not familiar and get to know her. She likely will be wearing purple and gold and relegating HVL to the sixth man role if she decides to stay around Baton Rouge.

If Williams starts next year she needs to step up. HVL gets a lot of flak here, but I literally can’t remember the last game I thought Williams had a significant impact in. If you think Van Lith is slow on D, Williams is molasses.

I honestly think she ends up playing in Europe until she develops a midrange shot and stronger post moves.
She’s a 6’3” low post player that is long but doesn’t jump. She shoots low scoops. I would LOVE if she had come back, because her high-effort style is awesome in college, but she’s not going to get all those second chance put backs in the WNBA.
