I agree with all that, except I'm higher on Ruckert and Pearson than Patrick. Although, I don't think any of them are locks to start next year.
What makes you so high on Patrick?
I know he was ranked high as a recruit and has high level speed.

If Milam doesn’t get a very high offer I think he comes back. I know the contract issue and leverage comes into play for his junior v senior year. Honestly though I think he needs to work on his approach at the plate. Hes not ever going to be a power hitter and he really needs to focus on base hitting into the gaps. He is unquestionably a top tier fielder. His base running could use some work. His bat could use a lot of work. He may not get the hitting help he needs here but honestly I don’t see an organization taking much of a risk on a small guy with questionable hitting and less than stellar base running. Even though his glove is beyond elite. The elevate and celebrate approach is a thing but it’s not ever going to be his thing.

I’d take him back with no promises. He’s shown enough flash over the years that maybe some more coaching could help. His fluctuations remind me of Paxton Kling

Trent Caraway (would like back)
Chances of him coming back are almost non existent I’d think

I think even if he doesn’t hit, he would like have defensive value in CF. He’s going to be one of my summer focuses when monitoring the leagues
Ruckert will compete for 2B but I think we’ve seen enough of Pearson to know what he is. When you have Braun, Arrambide and Serna in the lineup at 1B/dH, there is no position for Pearson and he hasn’t hit SEC pitching consistently enough to make any concessions for.

I like them and their ballpark. Butch Thompson might be the most underrated coach in the sport.
Their lineup isn’t good either and they’re still one of the highest RPI teams in the country.

Harden interest me. High character guy that was one of our best hitters in the fall. I'm a little perplexed that he got so little playing time at the end of the season.
There is a chance he goes pro or portal but there is also a chance he could be a really good player for us next year.

I'm not sure Carraway played since not sliding into 2B and being tagged out. I agree with Lester on his potential but I have a hard time seeing him back as well.

I don’t think he’ll be back but would take him with no expectations except to compete for a starting spot. The infield depth is just poor outside of 1B.

What are the chances of us signing:
Parker Loew
Jordan Martinez
CJ Weinstein
Individually, 2/3, or all 3?
I think one of them could break through and be a difference maker somewhere in the infield.
FWIW, I think Weinstein batted about .100 points higher than Curiel at the same school in CA.

If you get Milam back and bring in a solid portal guy then you let the freshmen compete with Pearson and Ruckert.
In the OF, I think you move Braun back there and add a portal guy. We will see how many talented freshmen we get through the draft.

Project could probably answer better than me, but I think we get all three. Weinstein is a draft risk though. There will be more news and podcast on the freshman class as the draft draws closer in July.

I'm not too worried about catcher. I heard, but not confirmed that Jay might bring in a defensive guru to work with Arrambide and Serna this off-season. There is a chance Yamin comes back and freshman Belding that could get some development time.

Really hoping that Yamin comes back. He is versatile position wise and epitomizes what it takes to be a team player

The more I think about it the more I realize how important getting Milam back would be to next years team. He would be the cornerstone we build our defense around that can bring some offense as well.
I don't see a big name from a SEC school entering the portal. So you probably have someone that hasn't played at the SEC level, wether that is portal or freshman. So to some degree they will be unproven. It might work but it might not. I don't see Jay wanting to take that risk. Basically I can see Jay going all in on a NIL deal. Maybe just wishful thinking.

We definitely have a potential starting rotation currently on the roster but none of them have reached their true potential, so you have to bring in some competition. I felt like last year we were missing on guys in the portal we showed interest in at a pretty high percentage. I stated that I felt we didn't have the big bucks to throw around and I think that has since come to light. So let's hope those loge seats and a few other things give Jay a little more spending money this year. That being said, I don't think Jay will go crazy here. You are probably looking at bringing in about 4 pitchers.
If he don't bring in at least 7-9 pitchers with 2 starters i would be shocked

You can’t gut the roster. Yall have to remember you can only have 34 next year.
You have a lot of hs guys who will end up here. I personally think Jay and staff go after 7-8 guys who are not role players but significant pieces.
You need to replace brown, Curiel, and Milam. Each guy was .400 OBP, .300 plus BA, 10 hr, 7 hr, and a 20hr bat.
Now there’s likely 1-2 guys who are Milam or Curiel ish players. Meaning they can start day one.
So what does that mean. You have to get a power bat.
Pitching,
You have to get more aggressive in the zone. Auburn is elite at pitching, they throw more strikes than anyone. The lefty that shut us down lives 88-92 with multiple pitches in the zone.
We had to many 92-95 guys who couldn’t throw strikes every time they went out.
Guidry has an important decision. Could he improve next year, yes? Does he want to get 100k and come back to LSU or go in the draft? He’s a long reliever but he’s alot like Cowan what kind of pro.
The MLB teams want 95-99 guys in the pen. Could Guidry gain a few miles an hr idk?
Sheerin would be nice to retain. Still has a leverage year.
Lots of LHP in the hs class. So I see movement away from maybe Cooper Williams, possibly? Garcia, Lachmeyer?
Suggest going in X, and just look at who Tutko, Jay, and Simpson follows.
I think Josh Jordan could take a head job. There’s a reason Simpson was out recruiting at the end of the year.

I think Jay will pursue the best pitchers available because he did last year but couldn't land them, Volcho and Reddemann if I spelled them correctly.
10000% he will go after the top pitchers in portal
