The more I think about it the more I realize how important getting Milam back would be to next years team.

Have you heard of any guys hitting the portal? You know they like to announce on social media they hitting the portal even before the June 1 date to declare

You brought in 4 portal arms last year, 1 JUCO and 3 freshmen if you don't count Aase.

We could be bringing in 10 guys just from freshmen and JUCO. We might also have a smaller roster next year. I just don't see bringing in more than 4. If they are quality arms, that is really all you need. Typically in a season only about 13 pitchers really contribute. Having 7-9 you can count on usually will get you through the weekend.

Some are declaring already but not many. Cal Baptist SS Chris Ramirez who hasn't entered the portal yet has been mentioned as a possible target at SS. Batted .360 with 4 errors.

We cant go after 1 year guys out of eligibility again, that seems to be a disaster. Theres a reason they are still in college and out of eligibility. Those are depth guys not starters.

You have to get more aggressive in the zone.

I agree with this and would add that maybe we need to attack with more fastballs. Of course those fastballs need movement and command and maybe we didn't have that to offer. It also means relying on defense and maybe there were concerns there as well.

I believe Jay will address this when he rebuilds the roster. Better defense, pitch to contact and attack the zone. More reason to give Milam a big NIL deal. More reason to bring in pitchers with command.

What makes you so high on Patrick?

I'll add to the potential of William Patrick. I look at him and think you have to be patient with his development. I can easily see his LSU career being very similar to Ethan Frey when it comes to developing. Like Frey, Patrick was a high level multisport athlete. He didn't concentrate on baseball year round. I think you give him time to catch up to the competition and concentrate on baseball year round and he can play at a high level for LSU by end of next season and his junior season. He is draft eligible next season but would have to have a ridiculous year for us to worry about that I think.

Lots of LHP in the hs class. So I see movement away from maybe Cooper Williams, possibly? Garcia, Lachmeyer?

Left handed pitching will definitely be addressed in the portal. Garcia is probably gone. Plog, Lachenmayer and Williams have some doubts. Who knows with Primeaux.

Schmitdt and Nawrocki are high draft risk. The remaining freshmen class projects mostly as relievers.

Any chance we can get Mikey Ryan back here? He had a good year at NC State: .336 BA, 9 bombs and played well at SS.

ACC players have a good chance of replicating their stats in the SEC IMO... and NC State has been good to LSU over the years.

Agree, the profile for Patrick coming out of HS was great athlete, high ceiling but needs time to develop. He actually got more playing time this year than I thought he would. That should only help with his development. I think you will see better angles on defense next year and more power in the bat.

I'm sure that will be looked at. NC coach is retiring.

I will add this about Brown. His camp believes he is a first rounder next year and will not settle in the draft this year. That being said, I think he will get paid pretty well this year.

Auburn is such a weird team. They don’t seem talented at all, yet they swept us last year and we couldn’t touch a guy whos fastball topped out at 91 Wednesday night. They’re going to make Omaha this year and be a problem next year.

They threw a 2-hit shoutout vs a very good hitting Aggie team last night. Butch is a very good pitching coach. Props.

That said, they finished 17-13 in conference. Good but not great.

Lol you can’t field a competitive team with the position players returning.

Either get drafted this year or lose a ton of money next year. Not sure who is advising them otherwise. Hope he loves lsu that much but I doubt it

Thought an earlier poster mentioned that he would be eligible for 5-5 if approved. If so, he would retain his leverage year wouldn't he?

Yes, I think they are basing that off of the 5 for 5 passing.

His camp expects him to sign this year. Very small chance he returns and Jay isn’t expecting him back. But there is a slight possibility
