All things being equal most players would choose to play for LSU than any other college.
There are factors like playing time, proximity to home, coaching staff and most importantly NIL money. We just need Jay to equally compete with all the other programs in the SEC when it comes to spending money. I heard last year we were towards the bottom of the SEC as for revenue share. Revenue share isn't NIL, so I don't know how much money Jay had to spend. Just looking at Revenue share, I heard Arkansas was at the top with 3 million and others had 2 or 2.5 million. Jay was given $400,000.
Jay missed on plenty of players thery were pursuing in the portal and I'm guessing lack of funds was the main reason. Jay settled for what he could afford and look at what happened. Do you think Jay might be a little irritated by that? Jay doesn't need more money than everyone else, but he needs at least equal money with the top five SEC programs.
After this year, I'm going to assume that will be addressed and corrected. I expect Jay to be a madman in the portal this year. I don't think it will be a big portal class but I'm expecting it to be quality players.

Are we going to go get Louque from LSUE?

He hit .385 with 15 HR's which is very good, but it wasn't even tops on his team. They had 3 guys with better offensive stats them him. I have my doubts that he makes his way to Baton Rouge.

I also think that Yetskie will change his pitch calling. Expect more fastballs and more attacking the zone.
Part of me still wonders if they didn't do this as much this year because they didn't trust the defense behind them to make place.

In my opinion you left off the most 'critical' need, a strong catcher
We have two strong catchers, and I doubt you get a worthy transfer to come with them two here. And you absolutely do not want to lose Bide, or Serna. The best case scenario is those two putting in the work to improve defensively.

I think that was a big factor. Jay admitted that he didn't get athletic enough guys in the portal. He brought in guys that were known for offense not defense because he felt he needed more power in the lineup. He said he won't make that mistake again.
Lack of command by the pitchers might have also factored into that equation.

Bide’s asking price is pretty high. He will be one to keep an eye on to see if they can keep him.
