Reading into Nussmeier’s stats through two weeks can tell us a lot.

Specifically the yards per attempt.

That tells me that the staff or Garrett don’t have faith in our line to give him the time to throw deeper, longer developing routes. It also tells me that teams disrespect our running game and line so much that they are content with playing a lot of two-deep shell.

5 yds/attempt is really really poor though.

There was constant pressure up the middle when Moore went out. Chester is horrible. Also Davis at RT got wrecked last night as well. Top it off with Nuss having his 2nd worst game of his career and yeah that’s why the numbers look the way they do.

But I thought having Hilton available and having the “fastest WR room in the country” would fix our problems of not having a vertical passing threat

Also, need to look at the WRs. None of the big outside guys are truly dynamic and can get open. Those guys have been blanketed through two games.

Well they were being held and tackled majority of the time last night. Hence why LA Tech had 6 PI penalties and should have had even more

Nuss was 33% on throws over 20 yards last season. I told yall he has no touch, yall laughed and said WRs weren't getting separation.

This year, we easily have separation and Nuss is 2-9 on throw over 20 yards.

He has a cannon of an arm with NO TOUCH. We dont throw bombs because its just an incompletion with the random home run ball.

That’s not the type of throw I’m speaking about.

Chester is a massive liability.

You are ignoring the level of pass protection necessary to have successful vertical threats.

Did you miss Barion Brown 5 yards behind the defense for a TD and Nuss under threw him?

Does it also tell us something about his knee? Are they also trying to protect it?

This was the case at Clemson for sure.

As for last night, I think everybody just kind of sucked. Nuss looked downfield several times and either checked down, or scrambled and threw away.

Because of our talented wrs and suspect OLine play, teams are playing a ton of two high safety looks. Deep and short crossing routes are open, just like the one overthrown last night. Nuss has to hit those throws but also the OLine has to give him time. Nuss is throwing too many balls backpedaling

There is no "That Dude" at WR this year. Even last year, Taylor was something. You don't have a Nabors, Chase, or Jets. Anderson wants to be That Dude, but I'm not convinced by his route running. Every great QB needs a go-to guy that he can find, a player that always seems to get separation.

The other issue is that teams will keep the safeties back as long as they can get pressure rushing four. If there are two safeties back, you aren't hitting many long throws.

Trust me, I’m not. I’m parroting the people who said this coming into the season.

Their defensive scheme took away the long ball last night. They knew we wouldn’t run Nuss. Losing Moore compounded the problem.

It is 2 games. One of which we played a good D on the road in a wild environment and had pass interferences a lot and a 30 yard TD called back. LT dropped 8 all night forcing underneath throws

Making assumptions of a dude after you watched him for a year after 2 games is hilarious. Every team has off games, that coincided with key injuries and La Tech playing well. On to the next

Literally being held most of the night. Watch the game. Our guys easily get open, especially when it's not PI. Brown was open multiple times.

LSU should have scored no less than 42 last night. Nuss has not gotten better at all on the deep ball.

i downvoted because this was a lie last year and it's a lie this year. Jayden Daniels would have had a field day with this group of wideouts.
