don't think he has fully recovered from injury or at a minimum, is not in game shape. He looks tentative. For his sake, I hope this is the case. If this is his new normal, it doesn't bode well for his future or ours.

Definitely not 100%. I think the ankle is more of a problem than they let us know. Watched him on the sideline and he was getting looked at a couple times.

Was the ankle on the same side as the knee injury?

I hope this is not a Glen Dorsey situation,

Comparing Smith to Dorsey is a joke at this point. They aren't in the same universe.

He was a freshman all american before his injury. You clowns go on like he never did anything.

He had 19 tackles his freshman year. For comparison, Perkins had 72. The reality is Smith has done nothing to warrant the hype he's getting and his play looks like a liability at this point.

If all of our DT’s played like Ronnie Estay, our defense would be great!!

That would be all fine and dandy if his backup didn't come in and make plays in the backfield. Both are playing nose and are gonna get doubled a decent bit but one flashes and the other doesn't.

Also he's losing the leverage battle in both of your screen shots.

It took me until the 4th play of the game for ARK to see them double him. Should I keep watching or take your word for it?

Take it a little further than the first drive. I'm sure they were doubling him based off the all-american hype.

you can't tell anything from those screen shots other then him being double teamed lmao.

If people are going to hate on a player, at least tell the truth. Doubled team twice on the first drive alone. How can someone say he was never doubled teamed, idk.

You can't tell that his helmet is higher than the guys blocking him from those photos? Never heard of low man wins?

I am not here to argue that a nose guard doesn't get doubled. Every nose in the history of time gets doubled often. I am saying that Jefferson comes in, plays the same spot and flashes and makes plays in the backfield and Smith does not.

regardless of what people say, he does get doubled. He's not 100%, he's rusty, and Arkansas HC is one of the best OL coaches in America....maybe the best.

They were blocking him and hats off to them.

He need a real D Line Coach like Pete Jenkins tbh....not joking either. Pete could make him a star again.

That being said....to relate it to a younger and more athletic version of MS....when he was in high school and destroying weak competition in Terrebonne's garbage district, they eventually ran into Brother Martin...who also has one of the best offensive line coaches in the state (maybe in the country) and they had ZERO kids who are playing college ball....they doubled him and used leverage to block him all night. He ended the night with a hurry and one tackle.

He had a major knee injury and is struggling with an ankle. He has most likely not been a full participant all summer and definitely not conditioned. He has no real collegiate experience other than 120 snaps.

I said it before and got shite on. He has a mountain to climb before he lives up to his hype. I don’t have faith in this defensive coaching staff to prepare him at all or put him in a position to be disruptive.

Again, he needs a real D Line Coach.....all the talent in the world will still pale in comparison to leverage. Leverage is king

Ronnie Estay.

Saw this name getting used in this thread. FYI: I don’t know of anyone that has more Championship Rings than Ronnie. He could put a ring on every finger, then would have to hold the rest in his hands.
As a player and a coach, rings galore!

I don’t think that he’s fully recovered from the ACL, he is nervous to put too much pressure on the knee

It wasn't hype alone. During his freshman season, he was one of the best players on the team.

Still waiting for him to do something. Just use him on short yardage to plug holes.
