or he has TOPS why would he need a scholarship?

Oh I was not aware that TOPS paid for books, meals, room and board. Thanks for clearing that up.

I don't know about his grandparents but his dad is not an oral surgeon. His dad is one of the nicest people I've ever met and just an all around good guy. I guess Raph gets it honest.

His grandfather is an oral surgeon not his dad. He has family money but just personally knowing him, he could care less about the accolades and outside publicity. He comes from great parents and just wants to win

His pops isn't a oral surg, my brother grew up with him. I was good friends with one of his uncles.

His grandpa did cut out my wisdom teeth, so that part is right.

Yes, Rhymes should get lots of consideration for national baseball player of the year--challenging the .500 batting mark as he has, plus playing for a top 5 team.

I have always heard that baseball scholarships are nice, but don't pay as much as football or basketball ones do--so if this is true, it may be a consideration also.

Just being realistic here. If you are making decent grades you are on tops, and the baseball scholarships barely pay for anything. He's being practical and prob was asked by Manieri to do it. Good guy, and a smart guy.

If he gets to eat in the athletic cafeteria, it's almost even. They serve some good food in there.

Seriously, this is what "team" is about. This guy has totally earned his way. At this point, however, a scholarship to Rhymes is the best way to ensure the continuing quality of the team.

I was shocked when I read this story. Couldn't be more proud of a great guy and a great tiger! This is the article I read when I first found out about this story last night.

Wasn't there a shot of his mom during one of the
games? She appeared to be a very attractive lady, if so.

This, though I do think the OP was implying that it is the type of public school where many of the students come from upper middle class families, similar to Byrd or Captain Shreve in Shreveport.
