re: Anybody played golf at frenchmans bend lately?
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 5/12/14 at 7:55 pm to TIGRLEE
I played a 4 man scramble there two weeks ago. The greens are some of the worst I've ever seen. Pointless trying to get a read off your partner's putt. The ball bounced (yes bounced not rolled) a different way every time.

Youth weekend started two weeks ago here.

It seems like its a week early this year for my zone. I think it has usually started the weekend of Halloween or just after in the past.

First time I've been able to post in an IST thread. Might sit this stand more often just so I can read the outdoor board.

re: Raph Rhymes reportedly played without a scholarship this season

I don't know about his grandparents but his dad is not an oral surgeon. His dad is one of the nicest people I've ever met and just an all around good guy. I guess Raph gets it honest.
Steven Jackson or Willis McGahee??
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 12/15/11 at 10:12 am
My three running backs are Steven Jackson, Willis McGahee, and Felix Jones. I have already made up my mind to start Jones but I am unsure about who to start in my other RB spot. McGahee vs the Pats or Jackson vs. the Bengals??
re: Solunar Chart - App for iPhone....any suggestions
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 10/6/11 at 1:54 pm to hunt66
iSolunar Hunting and Fishing Times app has the best reviews of any solunar chart app for hunting that I have seen. It does cost $4.99 though. I just got an iPhone about a month ago and I have been researching these apps as well. I think I'm gonna try this one out. The screenshots make it look extremely easy to use and read.
re: I have this Critter Problem. Need advice

Not saying the guy is not being 100% honest, but I know Karl Malone has a high fenced place north of Ruston. I don't think he tags most of his deer because he doesn't do much breeding. He just buys them and shoots them. So he could have taken those pictures through a fence. Not sure why you would lie about something like this though.

I added it to my cart as a joke. Made me a little nervous.

If I go tomorrow, I will post some updates on any good deals I find. I am only in "need" of a new trail cam and maybe some type of corn feeder but I'll try to check out everything.
Simmons Tent Sale
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 7/22/11 at 9:32 pm
For you guys who live near the northeast section of the state, my brother went to Simmons Sporting Goods in Bastrop today and said they already had some tent sale stuff out. I think the official start date is not until July 27th. He only told me about some cheap camo pants and other clothes but I'm sure they have more. I think I'll make the drive up in the morning and check it out.
re: Thinking of joining a lease. What should I ask first?
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 4/26/11 at 4:00 pm to CajunFootball
Once again, thanks for all the suggestions. I just talked to the president again and me and my brother (he is interested as well) are going to look at the property next Saturday. I will keep reading and have an extensive list of questions for him next Sat. I'll try to post answers to some of yall's questions and tell you what I see at the lease to get more feedback on whether this would be a quality place to join and hunt. Thanks again.

Thanks guys. All good stuff. Didn't know some camps had masturbation limitations - I'll be sure to check.
Thinking of joining a lease. What should I ask first?
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 4/26/11 at 3:01 pm
I am relatively new to hunting (deer hunting for four years). I have an opportunity to get into a hunting lease for the first time. Up until this year I have relied on family and friends taking me along. I'm just wondering if anyone has suggestions on must ask questions for the president of the hunting camp. I talked to him briefly today and got some basics: I know how big the property is, how many guys are in the lease, the dues amount, what type of stands they have, and their rules for killing deer. I'm sure there are tons of other questions I should ask. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
re: What are the OB's occupations? Hunting time allowed?

Physician Assistant
My hours are generally Mon - Fri 8-5 for the most part so no hunting during the week. I'm in the stand every Saturday morning and evening and sometimes Sunday evening. Not near enough time during the weekend.

What kind of camera is that? and does it come with a setup to view it on the internet? I have been looking for something like this.
re: c'mere deer......
Posted by VickAteMyDog on 11/5/10 at 11:40 am to CajunFootball
Not sure why your analogy had one steak cooked and one not b/c the corn is the same either way. But if you gave me a cooked Ruth's Chris steak with a sauce on it that I thought smelled good and made the steak more desirable (which is what c'mere deer is supposed to do) and one without the sauce then I would choose the one with the sauce.
re: c'mere deer......

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. We weren't trying to make the corn any better - just seeing how deer would react to the c'mere deer. And like I said they wouldn't touch it. Like you said deer eat corn anyway - but they wouldn't touch it with c'mere deer on it.
re: c'mere deer......

My brother in law and I wondered the same thing last year: we dumped out 2 bags of corn about 5 yards away from each other and spayed c'mere deer on one pile and left the other one alone. Deer actually walked up to c'mere deer pile, sniffed it, and walked to the untouched corn pile to eat. Needless to say, we never used the stuff again. This may not prove anything to some, but it was good enough evidence for us.

I've seen more fumbles on botched hand offs than tosses. You rarely see a toss fumbled. It's not risky at all.
No kidding. There are entirely more hand offs than tosses in football so you're going to see more botched hand offs. Ratio of botched hand offs/ successful hand offs as opposed to botched tosses/ successful tosses would tell you that the hand off is by far the safest play call.
