True, but that Miami baseball team reeked of arrogance that made the current Tennessee Vols seem like a bunch of humble monks.
The Morris home run was sweet on many levels
this just can't be beat

We, as LSU fans, are unbelievably blessed

I hope people start to appreciate this

It’s weird saying this because the morris homer is so memorable and well known and was for the actual championship But I think the Tommy tanks one was my favorite. When morris hit his, the LSU baseball machine was rolling and we had 2 recent titles. But Tommy’s home run was on the heels of a 13 year drought, our longest since LSU baseball became LSU baseball. Our intimidator was getting less intimidating, the rest of the SEC was catching up to us. That hit feels like it might have ushered in the 2 great era of LSU baseball

Great post, Baw.

Last night was the only walk off where we weren't facing elimination in that game.

Umm . . .

The national title winning walk offs were all in the single game championship.

Right. That means EVERY National Title game was an elimination game back then. Morris hits a pop fly instead, we're eliminated and go home empty. Ditto Cresse's hit.

Morris tops the list because Warren Morris.

Cresse's is next because Championship.

I put Tanks' 3rd because of how great that game was and it was a home run.

All the rest are equally awesome moments and I wouldn't trade any of them for the world, so they're all tied for 4th.

ETA: Correction -- I don't think we had two outs for Cresse's. But the point is, it was an elimination game.

LSU vs Rice 2008

You are missing Blake Dean's 3 run double off the wall with all 3 base runners between home and 3B at the same time.

One run will score,
Two runs will score,
THREE RUNS WILL SCORE!
TIGERS WIN!

The bases clearing double is the most exciting play in baseball, IMO.

Tommy Tanks '23 semifinals home run 0-0 score bottom 11th
Bear Jones '25 semifinals single
B. Cresse '00 finals single drives in Theriot
Todd Walker '93 semifinals single drives in A. Rios

Of these four, Cresse is the easy top of the bunch because it was in a championship game where we were down 5-2 in the 8th inning

Tanks is next because it was a scoreless game where we completed the seemingly impossible task of beating Wake twice. And it was very Warren Morris-like where it was first pitch he saw.

Walker is next because it completed a crazy comeback and it was a do-or-die game against LBSU

Then is Bear's because even if we lose that game, we're still alive.

When I read 2008 vs Rice, this immediately popped in my head. I remember exactly where I was when I heard this on the radio. It was a great feeling coming out of what Smoke had turned the program to. And year 2 PM put us right where we needed to be

Tanks gets the nod over Cresse even thought Cresse’s hit was in a title game because that LSU Wake game is maybe the most intense nail biting baseball game I’ve ever watched

Get what you're saying but don't undersell the intensity of the 2000 Stanford game. Wright robbing the HR was the Tre Morgan play of that game, LSU couldnt get anything going on offense after 2 early runs all the way until the 8th and suddenly momentum turned on a dime with Barbier and Witten's homers, then Cresse who was having a rough Omaha all around to top it off.

Was just hitting puberty around that time and I honestly thought LSU was dead in the water because we just seemingly couldn't get a hit off that Stanford reliever and I thought he was just gonna shut it down the whole rest of the way. That 8th inning kinda came out of nowhere.

Idk exactly which is best, or how to rank them… but…. Think about how lucky the LSU fan base is that we get to debate which CWS walk off is the best…. How many other team can even claim multiple walk off wins in the CWS?
5 walk off victories? Surely no one else has 5!
That’s pretty awesome

They'd have wanted to fire Skip for putting him in in the first place.

Wasn't Cresse struggling pretty bad at the plate when he hit that championship winner?

He had only one hit in the CWS for that at bat.

You have to remember that Ben was a true Fr that year and the best reliever in college baseball was Barry Manuel of LSU who walked the bases loaded ahead of the grand slam off of Ben. 3 of those runs are on Manuel!

The totality of the program isnt the point. Its the moment

Waren had missed 39 games that year due to a hand surgery. Ya know, surgery on the part of his body that grips the bat. He didnt return to the lineup until May 23rd. Morris hadn't hit another HR the entire year. Plus, there were 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, with LSU trailing. And Morris was 9th in the batting order

It was also the first time in CWS history that a walk-off HR won the championship

Tanks HR only got us into the championship game against Fla. And the game was tied, with LSU having No outs, and a runner on base.

1. Morris
2. Cresse
3. White
4. Walker
5. .Bear

1 and 2 both won national championships

3 and 4 were in games LSU had to win or go home

5. clutch hit, and amazing moment, but we would have played another day without it.

1. Warren Morris (nothing can top this unless its a game 3 situation now in the Finals)

2. Tommy White. Outside of the Warren Morris HR I have never been that excited watching LSU baseball win. That was purely amazing.

3. Theriots slide into home and throwing the helmet into the air.

4. Bear. What a moment and what bounce back performance from Bear since game 1.

I did not actually visually see Todd Walker's. We were listening to the game but did not watch it live.
