That “30” freshmen starters thing is just straight up nonsense.
Good God, a handful (4-6) of freshmen had meaningful snaps during the season.
The BYU game in particular skews the data, but on the whole, week in and week out , only a few freshmen saw meaningful snaps during the season.
It’s propanganda pure and simple, but mostly an excuse.
The Edtard Orgerwrongs have already started calling the 2018 team young and Thats on the heels of the young 2017 team. Hahahaha excuses and propaganda

Miles inherited a program on the rise and was seeked out. O inherited a stagnant program and is paid much less. Can't compare the 2. We paid a guy much more per win that we currently have. Don't blame O, blame the decision maker

He’s way way overpaid.
Nobody and I mean NOBODY wanted this guy. His track record is garbage. He had zero leverage in negotiating a contract.
It’s not that he’s unproven or an unknown quantity- no no , he’s an abject failure historically. His resume shouldn’t have even gotten him a damn interview, much less this lucrative contract.
He ain’t no bargain.

Well O didn't hire himself. We went cheap due to paying Miles lots of money for being stagnant. I'm not going to blame O for his own hire. The decision maker needs to be evaluated

Don't worry baw. O doesn't read the Rant.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that (other than the eating crow part, no one needs to eat any crow, I think we all want the same thing). Let's just get behind the team, pull for these tigers, and see what happens.
No one is "not pulling for" the Tigers. People don't have faith in O, and for good reason. I'm not going to just randomly put faith in someone for no reason. But I'll still cheer for the Tigers every weekend.

I don't really think many people (other than maybe their moms) are really fans of a particular coach.
Uhhhhh.
quote:
But if a coach is the HC of the tigers then they should want him to succeed. I like both Coach Miles and Coach O's personality but can't say that I am a fan of them. I'm a fan of the LSU Tigers and of course want the coach to have a fair shot at leading the team to success. Wanting the HC to fail makes no sense to me.
So why do you think any critique met with "You just want O to fail," from many posters?
You seem to be level headed, but you know who typically these comments are about.
quote:
You may have your doubts, fair enough, but we all have to just wait and see what happens and in the mean time, if you are an LSU fan, than it seems you would be pulling for the LSU Tigers.
I saw enough with his resume and I've mostly seen enough with his performance against the easiest schedule in a long time, his hires, and his demeanor. Nothing O does makes me think he can win a championship, unless he actually wins one.
I don't mind eating crow when I say I think Ed O is at his very best a 10-3 coach, and he won't be a consistent one at that. I think when all is said and done, his average season will be below Les', and he won't win an SEC Championship, much less a national champ. I hope I am wrong, but comparing O to other leaders and coaches, I just don't see "success" from O or his decisions.
And as a fan, I'd prefer not to wait and see because I have a good feeling about how this ends up. Of course I can be wrong, but the idea that predictions and assumptions are tossed aside is dumb. The idea of critical thinking, predicting outcomes, and using information to making rational assessments is damn near the basis of being human. People who have issues with O are not tossing out some random, made up stuff.

Nah, people like to start a trend of being negative. Don’t come to this board if you’re looking for a positive outlook or real discussions. I’d truly love to see what the rant would say to a great year. My guess is they’d give credit to everyone but O and still claim he’s a “potato”.

Not exactly. O is to blame for getting the team ready for a game, that's part of the head coach's job. O is responsible for the team performance, to a degree, for the Troy loss, the Moo State loss, the Alabama loss and for sure the ND loss and that horrible decision he made inside the one yard line.
I say to a degree because O is not out on the field actually making the plays, we all know that, but he's responsible for getting the players focused and so forth, no? And spare me the "it's his first year" garbage. He has a ton of talent at his disposal; most coaches would love to have the talent he has on the sidelines.
It comes down to how he is as a head coach, which is not good. As a DL coach and recruiter, a DL coach but his recruiting prowess took a hit in this past recruiting class so, after all his, "have to recruit this and have to recruit that," he didn't make good on it. In any event, he's not a good HC. Luckily for him, he received some talented players that transferred, namely from Texas Tech but we'll see how that coaching goes.
Some of you O fans think that cheering for O is a prerequisite for cheering for the LSU football team and that isn't the case. I have no idea why this can't be understood for some.
No one is wishing for LSU to fail. It's actually the exact opposite, that's why you hear so much opposition. LSU and those players deserve better coaching.
We'll see what happens but I have my doubts about several games, unfortunately. That's the first time in 20 years I've said that.

That wouldn't be hard to find compared to O. But once they get here, is success guaranteed??? no.
No one is looking for guarantees. But someone that has a track record of building something is a good start. Build a great offense or defense, that's a damn good start. At least that guy will have a guiding philosophy.

some of our players are average SEC players and can't be all americans no matter who is the coach.
Not everyone can be all-americans, but the narrative that this team has average talent is ridiculous. Rickdaddy has posted our talent composite rating several times.

I can't argue with that
Again, no one wants Orgeron or Ensminger to fail. That would mean LSU fails. Believing they aren't the best options for LSU is a different matter entirely. It's not a difficult concept to grasp, yet many are seemingly unable to understand the difference.
quote:
I agree with that also. Some just go way overboard with their criticism of the staff in an insane way.
So you agree people should be banned for criticizing the staff? Define "insane way", because the only irrational insults in this thread, and others, are coming from Orgeron fans.

I really like how most O bashers can’t seem to remember that half the first string was missing for both the Troy game and the Miss St game....it was pretty obvious LSU’s lines on both sides of the ball were getting manhandled....that’s not on O...
If you don’t have the horses...damn it! You just don’t have it....
Explain how just weeks later our lines were competing with the likes of Auburn (& we got our starters back)....you really think that was just a coincidence and it was because O quit meddling?
You are really stupid if you think that...

We should not lose to Troy. And let’s not forget that O ran some of our linemen off, so he’s not entitled to that attrition excuse.

Let's see a list of those 11 players that were missing for both of those games.
Miss St. is at least an SEC team and had a really good coach. I'm not as upset as everyone else about that one.
Even if there really were 11 players out for the Troy game, if you don't think that the 11 that replaced them weren't better than the Troy players, then you're the really stupid one.
As for the Auburn game, if they don't let up with the big lead, there's no way LSU wins that game with that conservative nonsense of a game plan they came in with. I give the coaching staff a lot of credit though for making the adjustments and keeping the players locked in because they could've easily given up.

Lunatic quit being a bitch. Ok. You gave up on LSU at when we were down 20-3 so stuff it. I doubled down at half because I knew we would beat them pussies. All decent teams will lose to a Troy once in a while so stick dude

I didn’t know we were shooting for “decent,” and we hadn’t lost to “a Troy” nearly 2 decades.

If you want to know the honest truth, I was telling the people I was with that the game wasn't over tough guy. Amazing how that keyboard gives you so much courage. Also, that has nothing to do with the outcome of game, so it's a ridiculous argument to make. The Auburn players were the ones that let up.
Even when I give the coaching staff some credit, you still find a way to be an idiot.

It hadn't happened at LSU in over a decade and "all of a sudden" it just so happened to occur in O's first year. Am I getting this right? Is that REALLY the story you're going with?
