Who besides Miller @ TE?
If Higgins isn't a FA, I expect him to move up on the receiver chart... IMO.

As been said again and again, he was signed as a back up. Al and the coaches love Russell and have a lot of faith in him.
Not to mention he's starting to become the force everyone was expecting him to become. Last year was basically his rookie year, he's the youngest starting QB in the league. The Raiders have signed 4 starting caliber linemen, so they should provide more protection for Russell this season, hopefully.

it amazes me how uninformed the Rant can be sometimes.

Garcia has always impressed me as a QB, but JR should start especially if he plays like he did at the end of the season

Especially since they have a pitiful offensive line.
According to a Raider Fan on their message board, the raiders have added several OL men that were starters on various NFL teams.
According to the Raiders Garcia was hired as a back up.
VY was in the same situation last season. However, IMO, Russell is a better NFL Quarterback prospect than VY.

He never had a bad work ethic either, just not a particularly good one. JR wants to do well, the question is will he ever mature enough that he wants to excel and really push himself. At least he isn't nearly as bad as Aaron Brooks was post contract. (Or Jeff George for his entire career.)

who is a younger starting QB than Russell?
he ended the season a high note and threw a lot less interceptions that the smart QB's LSU had without a very good running game

You can get your thong in a bunch all you want, but the fact remains that Russell's greatest adversary is himself. Sure, he has more talent than all of the "smart" quarterbacks we had last year. And? Does that comparison somehow make him a better NFL quarterback?

the fact that he played pretty well at the end of last season bothers you doesnt it?
He is doing pretty good for the youngest starting QB

I think JR has 10x the talent that Brooks or George had. I agree that he needs the fire in the belly if he is to be successful in the NFL
