Another Alabama lover.

You can't listen to a segment without him sucking off Alabama.

God some of you are so pathetic. Alabama is talked about the most because they have won the most recently. I will never understand why people around here think any time Alabama is rightfully acknowledged for their success, that person is automatically an Alabama homer. Like Paul Finebaum, Bill King was born in raised in....Tennessee and has worked out of the Nashville area throughout his entire career. Also, like Paul Finebaum, he attended college at.....The University of Tennessee. Neither one of them are Alabama fans. They host radio shows and are paid to talk about things on air that attract listeners. Paul Finebaum was based out of Birmingham so of course he talks about Alabama all the time. He used to speak very poorly of them for years, prior to Saban, when Auburn was winning and they weren't. He taunted their fans even this year after Auburn beat them. Bill King has covered Tennessee sports for years. he is not an Alabama lover.

It's as if any time any sports personality has anything bad to say about LSU people automatically attack their credibility and acuse them of having bias.

I'm glad he got replaced by McElroy et al. King's show was nearly unbearable due to the amount of and length of commercial breaks.

And while much improved under SOS, nobody considers them as one of the true SEC power programs still.
That's what happened?

Ignorant poster decided to say SOS hasn't done shite at USCe. I commented on that.

This isn't a thread about SOS, but if some jackass is going to spout nonsense, all he has to do is look up Duke before SOS, UF before SOS and USCe before SOS. HoF coach.

He said he could never stop Spurrier during his heyday at Florida...Could anyone stop Fla. then except for maybe Fla. St.? King also said that Chavis is made to look better than he is due to the talent at LSU..LSU will always have at least top 15 talent, so I guess Chavis just lucked up, right?

Boy he must think Monte Kiffin really sucks!

Does any coach in the SEC do all that great without talent?

Saban didn't have a very good defense in 2000 or 2001 at LSU. Especially in 2001, that team won by out scoring ppl, not because of the defense.

I agree but Alabama did loose their last two games last year!

They were embarrassed in the bowl game speaking of Defense!

They lost a lot of good players also including AJ McCarron

Why Bama is favored to win the SEC by a heavy margin is beyond me. Nick has won it 2 times in 8 years.

LSU is going to beat Bama this year..

my 2 cents

Chavis' defenses are designed on speed, using smaller faster players. They are effective in
containing mobile offenses like Oregon and T A&M.

They are less effective against power running teams
that can overpower the smaller defenders. Chavis' Tennessee Defense had trouble containing the Nebraska steam roller offense.

Like everyone else did.

In 1997, UT (11-1 at the time) lost to Nebraska (12-0 at the time) 42-17. Nebraska scored more than 42 points in 7 of 12 games prior to playing UT.

In 1999, UT (9-2 at the time) lost to Nebraska (11-1 at the time) 31-21. Nebraska scored more than 31 points in 8 of 12 games prior to playing UT.

If anything, Chief's defenses held their own comparatively.

Who can rush the passer at DE in the SEC? They are getting more and more difficult to find. Chavis coaches defense at a time when offenses have most of the advantages. As more and more of the great throwers and the top dual threat scheme Qb's infiltrate the SEC, Chavis' job will become more and more difficult. This trend will continue in CFB and it will eventually become a QB and offensive league like its big brother.

This is the dumbest thing I've heard for any coordinator.

What great coach wouldn't be average if he only had average players?

Some pretty stingy defenses over on rocky top he sported

Didn't exactly have a hotbed of talent in the state of TN compared to the rest of the south.

I loved listening to Bob Bell and Bill King on WLAC in Nashville.

Bob Bell Died back in 2010. And Bill King moved to SiriusXM Radio...

Bill King has always been fair to LSU, Everyone needs to realize everyone has a opinion. Just like all of us.

I totally disagree. He played cover2 against UGA last year out of necessity because the DEs and LBs could not contain the sweep. That forced the CBs to play zone in Cover2. That is what cost Mills and Collins their jobs. White and RR could play man and defend the run with a single high which allowed Chief to bring heat from the nickel. Somebody called the Honeybadger made his living on that.
