I think we're moving away from that. Kelly said that with the GM office we have now his only responsibilities were to coach and they were handling the off the field stuff. That makes it much easier to find a good HC

I wonder how many LSU fans realize that Les Miles was actually an offensive coordinator for 3 years. Served him so well with all the weapons he inherited when he came to LSU.

Which is why we should hire Joe Brady.

LSU "fan base" does not have paitience to grow a team like those guys did.
They are going to need patience. Whoever comes in is going to struggle to keep the players they have and get players to transfer.

I’m totally on board with Brady. He has to know that his scheme fits the college game better and his chances of an NFL gig are less likely than they were a few years back.
With the way big time CFB programs are run nowadays he would not be that far outside of his ideal role with respect to player development, recruiting, etc.

I see reality is starting to set in on this board after the Kiffin/Saban circle jerk.

I'm ok with Kelvin , Frank and Baker. Need 1 or 2 more.

It sounds like they were doing all the recruiting themselves

If Lane says "no" and he (Sheppard) agrees to a 3 year contract then I'm OK with it.
We need someone who the players will "run through a wall" for. Kelly was not it. We don't need an older guy that "Knows football" , we need a younger, hungry guy who the players can relate to.
I would rather an offensive mind, though. I'm tired of these "horizontal 2 yard passes" that we drop or get tackled for a gain of two - on 3rd an 14.

From 2000 - 2024, 16 of the 25 national championship teams were led by coaches who had previous head coaching experience.

I’m sure if you extrapolate that even further the percentage grows.
College football is not the same sport as it was 5 years ago by a wide margin, let alone the decades prior.

You forgot sub .500 record against ranked opponents

You make it sound like Kelvin Sheppard was doing nothing before 2021. Include his NFL and college playing years. It counts.

Sorry, to be LSU's head coach you have to have 30 years head coaching experience, be 45 years old, have at least 1 national championship, willing to take a 3 year/$20 million contract with no buyout and a clause that you owe it all back if you have a <10 win season
Nailed it. Oh, and be a from down da bayou and don’t put tomatoes in your jambalaya.
