Ummmm you do realize he’s a Redshirt Sophomore this season. If he leaves after 2024 sitting out the bowl game literally didn’t help anyone.

Howard never showed anything to justify the hype; wish we had gone for Holstein instead (who wasn’t going to follow WH).

As for the current QBs it’s Nuss a lot of us want to see this year after what he showed in the SECCG, bowl and spring game. His arm talent just adds a whole other dimension to the offense.

And he doesn't have the legs Daniels has.

I get the clamoring for Nuss but it's ok to support both players. He's also been prone to throw ints.

Both have areas they can improve on.

JD has clear flaws. They surfaced again late in season against Arkansas. His backup performed better than him in SEC championship game. Based on what I see he will likely do well most of the time but will have occasions where he looks like shite. Therefore he will not win Heisman and LSU will not win SEC.

When JD decided to stay, LSU was fortunate that out of the two we were able to retain Nussmeier as opposed to Howard. This is not a commentary on if Howard is good or not, just observation that Nuss has a demonstrated high ceiling on the field.

I don't think Howard's decision hinged on JD, I think it was based on the rise of Nussmeir.

Since he obviously isn't SEC or professional quality yet, I guess he figured a degree from Ole Miss was more valuable than one from LSU. Obviously, Ole Miss is a more valuable academic degree if you plan on living outside Louisiana, so I guess he just gave up on the state. Can you really blame him? He made the same decision most young smart people from Louisiana his age are making everyday. Sorry, but Louisiana does suck. He didn't give up on LSU, he gave up on Louisiana.

Every time I saw Howard he looked terrible; may just be Freshman jitters, and he becomes all world, but I can see why he transferred.

Walker left for a reason. He knew he couldn’t beat out nuss and JD and didn’t want to sit. Unfortunately he left and it is happening at a different school

It’s Daniels I want to see. He appeared to have been much better than Nuss at the end of last season. Nuss looked like a talented high school QB who had no idea what to do with the ball and just flung it every time. He has potential, but he doesn’t have it between the ears yet.

No he didn’t. Those of us who have watched more than one season of football have seen this a zillion times. The backup comes in when the outcome is no longer in doubt, and he puts up impressive numbers against a defense that is bored.

Observation about JD, his feet make the difference winning the games LSU should win, win games that are close and compete in every game.

Possibly if JD was on the 2020 and 2021 squads LSU would have lost 2, 3 or 4 games each season and O would still be here. I believe JD put LSU in the position to win the SEC West last season.

Remember he is in his 5th season starting and not a typical 5th year senior that redshirted so he has more experience than most college QB's ever had

downvote away. If he can’t throw downfield, it’ll be a depressing season as LSU will not sneak up on anyone this season with his scrambling.

He absolutely did. I recall not so long ago a very talented quarterback who could scramble and run, win the Heisman trophy, but had about a 70 passer rating in two games versus LSU.

Arkansas proved that if you held him in the pocket, he can’t beat you with his arm. When he hurt his ankle, it became even more evident. If you are a one dimensional quarterback like Daniels, you may win a lot of games, but you will not beat teams that have equal talent on defense. It’s a flaw in his game. Unless he can push the ball down field LSU will be a 8 - 10 win team and that’s it. If he can’t push the ball down field, he will not be the starter at the end of the season. The SEC has far too much talent for quarterback that is one dimensional.

He has to show growth in the passing game down the field.

What Brian, Kelly is banking on is his running game and his tight ends opening up the field so that Daniels can have a running lane or short options. They consistently move the ball down field and shortens the game. He’s building his offense around a quarterback that can’t push the ball down field. I hate offenses that utilize nothing but the short game because they end up stalling out and you have a lot of yards but few points.
Why do you think he’s built his offensive line and tight ends? It’s not because he wants to throw the ball down field. It’s because he wants to use a power off fence and controlled o’clock. Does that remind you of someone else?

I’m a Brian Kelly and JD fan FWIW.

5th year starting, 2nd year with Kelly and Denbrock as coaches.

JD better be be able to accurately hit recievers. Sub 50 QBR GAMES are not acceptable.

Why? He chose to leave so I’ll choose to forget about him. Don’t wish him ill will but don’t care to see him do well. That’s not good for LSU.

He was highly rated. I wouldn't go so far as to predict he busts. However:

1. He was taught to be a QB at a very young age. He is probably more developed than his peers
2. He played with superior talent at STM
3. He grew up as the big man with a spoon in his mouth, at a school that panders to the Lafayette "elite" he's never had to "earn it"

Not as mad as you...

And since Nuss has committed to stay, I aint mad at all. At the time, I was worried that Nuss would bounce and we'd have no backup.

You're the 2nd worst kind of fan, btw. Just behind Magician2's cult.
