Sometimes these things take 2-3 years, and it doesn't always happen in the first year. The answer is not always to fire a coach, or bench a qb. Maybe these kids just need more time together around each other to build chemistry. As a coach, you could have the best players in the world, but if they don't gel it won't work. This is an entirely new team, all the way around. Maybe it will take a year. Maybe we don't bench a qb because he needs reps with his guys. Let's just pump the brakes on our expectations a little in year 1. I mean QB1 is coming off an injury and he's with a new team. He's pretty much on par with what JB and #5 JD did their first year at LSU. Give them some time. The same people that want to fire Baker, and bench Sam will be the first in here on Sunday praising them WHEN we beat Texas and Bama. That's right WHEN.

This thread is pretty pointless. While most will agree with your points, the ones who won't agree with it will not change their stance ever. You are speaking to a very loud minority, who isn't even capable of comprehending what you said.

The team and staff already has.

Now, gfy. Dont hold us hostage, demand top money at all levels, and expect a 2 or 3 year grace period. Youre a moron

See the post above. That is exactly who I was talking about.

People assume that the team you have in year 1 should be a championship team because of the transfer portal but there is still something to be said about depth which is accrued over the course of multiple years. There are still a couple of units on this team that are rotten. Read a lot of ridiculous stuff about Kiffin this week who don't understand it.

Will next years roster cost 40 million? Or are they planning on developing Louisiana high school players?

Well can’t be developing Louisiana players, because we are losing out on all the top Louisiana guys.
So sounds like Kiffin will be asking for another $40 million+ again…depending on how this season turns out, he may not get that again.
I know if we finish the season the way I see it going currently, I will not be contributing to that.

The annual LSU fan tradition of "we may have dropped some games to mediocre teams, but we're totally gonna run the table and beat Bama". Has yet to ever manifest in reality, but this year is definitely the year

I'm not sure they will be able to survive without your $15 dollar donation.

Baker should not get out coached by Kentucky. He looked unprepared. Everything else you said I agree with.

Cignetti? He brought most of his previous team with him and added some transfers but a lot of th0se JM players were 25-26 yrs old and were already bought in to the culture and the system. Apples to Oranges. And If he played in the SEC he'd already have a couple of losses this year and probably miss the playoffs. And it was his second year that he made all the strides.

Yeah, I was being extremely generous with the $15. Everybody knows the real answer is $0. The people who actually donate significant money would never have a take as completely trash as yours was.

I agree, but only in the context of "pre-NIL".

In today's CFB environment, a coach can't count on "building chemistry" over consecutive seasons if he can't count on the same players being available over those seasons.

It's entirely possible that many of the players pre-NIL coaches would have counted on to develop over two or three seasons will be gone at the end of the year, chasing a bigger bag.

At this point, I think it'll be more important to evaluate the talent that IS likely to stay (or can be paid, er, convinced) to stay another year and build around that. That may - or may not - be possible in today's game.

Just sayin.

Whatever you say man buddy. I don’t really care if some random person on a forum believes what I say or not.
