With all these players (and now teams) opting out of bowls, why not do this:

1) All teams play an 11-game regular season with 1 bye week, season starts Labor Day weekend;

2) Top 2 conference-ranked teams play in their respective conference championship game the weekend of Thanksgiving;

3) 32-team CFP begins the following week, with the NCAA Championship game being played New Year's weekend, allowing Transfer Portal to open the following that game for 2 weeks;

4) All current Bowl sites get to host at least 1 round of playoffs, keeping players and teams interested in playing these games.

Ugh!

How about cancel college football, and let the NFL form a minor league.

A 32 team playoff?

Yes let's have a team that couldn't even crack the top 25 compete for a championship

I think you have to at this point. It's such a joke that getting smoked by Georgia doesn't even hurt Bama at all. Why even play the game

I propose CFB adopts the college baseball model, but modified to be single elimination instead of double and add a reseeding during the bye. Put all the games at bowl sites.

64 teams.

1st Saturday - 4 team regionals games 1 and 2

2nd Saturday - 4 team regionals finals

3rd Saturday - 2 team super regional elimination game

4th Saturday - bye week, reseed.

5th Saturday - 8 team tourney round 1

6th Saturday - 8 team tourney round 2

7th Saturday - 8 team tourney finals, champion named

Just backdate it from the 2nd Saturday in January and call it a day.

Getting smoked by Georgia is as bad as beating a team that is barely above a CFS team. How many times do these teams need to get the shite stomped out of them before the "let's be fair" idiots realize that they don't belong in the playoffs.

16 teams. BCS computer generated seeding, using sos, sor, etc. No committee, absolutely NO automatic qualifiers. 1 thru 16, period.

Only proposed this number because they don't want to get rid of Bowl games, but most don't matter without putting some value on them.

Just ask ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude, then take the aggregate average to get a combined ranking.

Just have a real merit based playoff system

4 16 team conferences
All conferences have 2 divisions
All conferences have a CCG
CCG is round 1 of the playoff
Seed the final 4 after CCGs
Done

Makes the regular season count

Makes conference games really count

Makes being a conference champion mean something again

Not penalized for playing and losing a tough OOC game

If you decide not to be in a conference (Notre Dame) tough, you don't get to participate in the playoff

Eliminates the BS G5 teams getting in when they have zero chance if winning

No system is perfect and even this has flaws, but at least the rules are clear and it is all decided on the field

When 32 teams are involved, injury becomes a huge factor. Even with best of teams, a loss at a skill position on offense or defense could be catastrophic in single elimination.

I know, I know, baseball does it but it’s not as physical as football.

appoint me Czar-Emperor over the entire sport.

each year I decide how many teams get in based on how the season played out.

this year, only 7 get in.

Indiana gets a first round bye

#6 Ole Miss plays #3 Georgia
#5 Oregon plays #4 Texas Tech
#& A&M plays #2 Ohio State

Round 2
#1 Indiana vs worst remaining seed after round 1
other 2 winners play each other.

Championship Game
last 2 remain teams.

teams with 2+ losses need not apply (unless a really wild season happens where pretty much everybody has 2+).
