Musso seems to think Cowan will be in rotation opening weekend. Schmidt, Cooper, Noot all have higher ceilings, but who knows. It's likely going to be a tag team approach regardless of who starts.

I just went back and took a small sample of box scores from the better teams that High Point played last year, and the results on Simpson were mixed. In two games against Wake Forest he went something like 1 for 8 with 5 Ks. He fared slightly better against the Big Ten and Sunbelt teams they played.

I don't think it means he's going to be bad, I just think it means he doesn't have a lock on a starting job.

I think Reaves opens at 2B
Yorke and Arrambide will be in the middle of the order, probably 4/5
If Grant Fontenot pitches like he did in the fall he will get some high leverage innings

I asked Jay about Fontenot because I'm really excited about him. Jay didn't seem to get too excited but did mention he should play some high leverage innings like you mentioned.

Can’t wait to see Guidry back on the bump, one of the most exciting guys to watch

Think reaves starts the season at 2B.
Yorke DH’s
Dardar at 1B

Evans, Coop, and Moore are the rotation guys.
Bold Prediction: Paz wins SEC FOY.
Gonna be a fun year.

There is no need to put Yorke at DH. He is probably the best defensive 1B we have on the roster.

I think that is the likely rotation based on Jay's love for lefties but Moore is getting a lot of praise from players and Jay.

that's a well rounded lineup, its got power ,its got hitting and speed. you've got brown who could be the next superstar. I think brown can potentially hit 350 with 15 plus homers

I think we're going to be surprised at how many freshman contribute in large roles this year whether they're position players or on the bump. Crazy talented class!

I watched Simpson’s High Point clips when he signed. He had a beer-league softball hitch to generate power.

When I saw him in scrimmages this fall, he definitely toned it down. And I wonder if that was calculated in order to adjust for the velocity spike he is about to see.

With the plug and play portal guys, I think the days of freshman playing a bunch are over. Curiel was an exception and he had to beat out Larson to do it. Serna should see plenty of time, Braun might get some DH opportunities and the freshman pitchers will play, Paz getting meaningful innings.

Pearson will compete with Carraway at 3B and get DH opportunities.
