Or worse the recruting cycle is virtually over when you hire a coach after the season. The roster was gutted except for a handful of guys. Basketball recruiting is not on par with football. Give MM some time he will be gone if the team look like this next year or even into year three. RELAX

MM isn't going anywhere for at least 5 years. yall really don't understand the current view of LSU basketball from a recruits perspective.

McMahon deserves years to rebuild. He basically took over a program that was death penalty level as far as players with significant NCAA issues on the horizon. That’s what he was selling.

Show me a sec coach that is successful that takes 5 years to build.

They don’t exist. MM needs to adapt and learn how to get big time players in. If he hasn’t went to a tourny by year 3 this shite show needs to end.

Comparing football and basketball at a place like LSU is classic apples to oranges. Completely different in terms of in state recruiting, expectations, financial support etc. People that are upset with Mcmahon right now have no concept of reality. This was never going to be a successful season with what he inherited. We're lucky we've won the amount of games that we won. You have to give him three years to see what he can do in recruiting, the portal, and player development. The bridge jumpers wanting him fired are the same ones that wanted Kelly fired after the FSU loss.

You missed the biggest difference between the shape football and basketball was in. Football was in a terrible shape and we brought in a top tier high profile coach with a proven track record at building up programs that was capable of fixing it.

In basketball we brought in a mid-tier not very well-known coach that was really an unknown at this level.

It's a lot easier to recruit top tier players when you have a resume like BK. Not as easy when you have a resume like MM. Plus, the comparable history of success between the two sports at LSU couldn't be more different meaning you don't have as much momentum to recruit with.

No one is that upset with the current season other than the absolute piss poor effort we have seen. Almost all people mad are upset over the outlook and see the giant red flags on MM.

Giant red flags? The guy hasn't even coached 20 games at LSU. Why don't people like you see how he finishes this year on the court, in recruiting and with the portal before condemning him? Your vagina has been bleeding all over this board since last night.

Normally i would agree, but 1 and done basketball is totally different from football. All of these teams reload every single year. Maybe a handful of stud players stick around for more than 1 year. That being said, coaching scheme is very important. And it's not like we are losing close games, we are getting blown tf out. Not really sure how we can say we are even heading the right direction.

It is laughable the amount of vitriol that comes from this fanbase for the current BBall coach. Who would compare the football and baseball programs at LSU to the basketball program. Who would compare MM to BK, Mulkey or even Jay Johnson. Criticizing a mid tier coach for not bringing top tier talent at the last minute to a program that was gutted and had the cloud of sanctions hanging over it? Can the fans be that stupid? Probably the same "fans' that were saying BK didn't fit here. I am frustrated with the lack of shooting ability and the lack of physicality but that is what we are stuck with thanks to what was left when Wade left. And I was a wade fan but I am also a realist. Give him 3 full years and then judge. Not his fault Allen isn't the 5* he was thought to be. Mwani out with shoulder surgery. He should play Ward more in my opinion but I am willing to give him a couple of years to show what he can do. The results now generation is rearing it's ugly head. If this is the product after 3 years then yes it's time for a change but after half a season? LOL.

Zero chance McMahon is fired next season. The circumstances surrounding this matter. He is going to get 3-4 years just be patient and see how things turn out.

With the portal, not overly concerned about this. Not to mention, McMahon has shown the ability to scout/evaluate talent that goes under the radar.

KJ Williams, the OVC Player of the year last season and our best player, was not even ranked by recruiting services.

Ja Morant wasn't ranked either and had only 1 Div. 1 offer.

McMahon should get at least 3 years to build his program, especially considering where it was when he got here.

They were both facing likely NCAA sanctions? They both have Get Gordon's open checkbook?

LSU is currently ranked 10 in the SEC in MBB recruiting. Not good enough. We will continue to suck until that improves and improves drastically.

Looking at 247, we are ranked 9th.
We have 2 players: Corey Chest ranked #88 overall and Mike Williams ranked #157 overall.

For context, Tennessee is 2nd with the 45, 102, 142 best players.
Ole Miss (3rd) has the 84, 92, 165 best players.
Missouri (4th) has the 85, 116, 137 best players.
Alabama (5th) has the 104, 107, 177 best players.

Not the same because Pearl had a proven track record before going to Auburn but they were bad for 3 years then lost in the first round of the tourney then went to the final four in year 5.

His contract is set up to where they won’t even think about it until year 4 and probably would be 5 before it’s realistic.
