Prior to today’s updated AP top 25, LSU (6-2) was ranked 16th.
This weekend's teams that lost were:
#3 Penn St (7-1)
#10 Texas A&M (7-2)
#11 Clemson (6-2)
#11 Iowa St (7-1)
16 ——————————(LSU 6-2 - Idle)
#17 Kansas St (7-2)
#18 Pittsburg (7-1)
#24 Illinois (6-3)
I think we only move up to 15, or maybe 14. Penn St & probably A&M will still be ahead of the Tigers. Clemson will probably drop below us & Iowa St only has 1 loss, so they may still be ahead of LSU. With 17 & 18 losing, I don’t see anyone behind the Tigers jumping ahead this week in the AP.
No clue if the CFP committee will mirror the AP, but it will probably be close.

Nope. You’re going to have to include the top team that's not ACC / SEC / B1G / Big 12 champions plus Notre Dame (if they don't implode). So that leaves 6 team slots are available if LSU wins out, but doesn't win the SEC Championship Game.
So top 11 will guarantee make the playoff

Clemson, Iowa State and Aggie losses were absolutely massive.

Don’t care. Win out and they are in

That’s not “worst case.” That’s the most likely outcome. The 5th-ranked champion is not likely to be in the top 12.
The “worst case” scenario is that you get upsets in the Big 12 and/or ACC championship games, such as a 2-3 loss Kansas State ranked around #15-20 beating 12-0 BYU.

I really hope it doesn’t mirror the AP. If it does, CFB is now (more than ever) a battle for the easiest schedule.
There are 3 teams in the top 8 right now without a single win over a ranked team. 2/3 of the way through the season.
One doesn’t have a single ranked team on their schedule all year. One already lost the only game on their schedule against a ranked team. One doesn’t play their first ranked team until 3 weeks from now.
None are deserving of top-8 CFP rankings IMO.

#14...
I am certainly 'all for' LSU making the inaugural 12 team invitational AND would love to see LSU host a tournament 'quarterfinal'
A true quarterfinal would mean a 16-team tournament

wins out, not only will we be in the SEC Championship game

hey idiot, if LSU comes in at 14 or 15 this week, and wins out, not only will we be in the SEC Championship game, but we will be in the top 12. Where do you idiots come from, as if we aren't rank there now means we wont be ranked there in the end.

Just curious where’s the running game coming from to facilitate the four provisos?

After that, it's a home game against a decent/not great Vandy, a road game against a Florida that's been rough and just lost their QB, and a home finale against an Oklahoma team that's offense-optional.
We have one game, at night in Tiger Stadium against a beatable nemesis, to set up for a run to the playoffs. Could you ask for any more?

After Saturday night, win out and it doesn’t matter.

Our win over ole miss will carry a lot of weight. They value top 10 wins. If ole miss beats Georgia it’ll really help us too.
Lincoln Riley is screwing us even worse week by week. All they have to do is not be awful. Like be ranked in the top 20 with 2 losses that’s it.

I wouldn’t write off that game at Florida quite yet. They’re better than their record shows.
But if lagway is out that’s different
