"Tommy Casanova was a remarkable athlete, one of the most complete players ever to come out of Louisiana. He was a defensive back, used in spot duty as a running back, and was a kick-returner. With 9.7-second 100-meter speed on the LSU track team, he would have liked to try his hand at wide receiver."

Remembering local sports legend Mike Miley . (1953-1977) He died in a auto accident on January 6, 1977. He was a native of Metairie. He lettered in 4 sports at East Jefferson High School. He was from the graduating class of 1971. Out of High School he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 1971 , but did not sign up. He went to LSU, where he played football and baseball. He was LSU's starting Quarterback in the 1974 Orange Bowl in a 16-9 loss against Penn State. Miley was signed by the California Angels in 1974 and spent 2 years in the minor leagues. He played shortstop for the 1975-76 Angels. He died in a auto accident in Baton Rouge. Airline Park Playground was renamed in his honor. Thanks for the memories Mike Miley.

Charlie Mac installed the veer to take advantage of Miley's talents, then he chose baseball.
