I think Willis probably catches and Garza plays first or DHs.

Who on the roster (position players) at the moment has more all around talent than him? Duplantis is a helluva hitter but he’ll never hit for power. Watson did not improve much from last year. I agree that Slaughter has underperformed but he tremendous upside.

Unrelated- with the guys we have coming in I really don’t want to see Bryce Jordan in the lineup. Maybe they can honor his scholarship but he (and Beau) are/were just not very good.

What's with the Slaughter hate? Wasn't he one of the few Tigers to actually contribute offensively in the postseason?

Jake seemed to improve noticeably toward the end of the season. FWIW, he accounted for our only run vs OSU (in two games).

OTOH, across the season, Jake still seemed over matched at this level. Would like to see him return and would love see him coached by Cannizaro.

Explain this. Cannizzaro was our hitting coach WHILE Cain & AD were on the staff

Hughes will hit better.

To be clear I have no problem with Hughes at SS and Smith at 3rd. I just don't think we see it unless Smith proves unable to handle the position

Cain was the volunteer assistant. Cannizaro was the recruiting coordinator.

Cain couldn't be the recruiting coordinator as the 3rd guy because they aren't allowed to ecruit off campus.

Any other stupid questions?

Giovanni

If anyone is interested, here a little interview with DiGiacomo talking about his future. Seems like a smart kid.

Cabell could have been handed the starting job. He doesn't want to go to school.

Don’t want this to sound like it’s directed at you, but why did we even offer this guy if it’s so obvious he wants to go pro? Did he commit very early and then changed his attitude?

ETA: disregard, I just saw this was already discussed

In a not unexpected move, Nowak was released from his summer ball team. It's an indication of his status on the team.

But it also opens up a spot for another recruit or player to play on that team. There are rules about how many players from one team can play on a summer league team. Nowak was supposed to be on the same team as Dugas and Bianco.

He could field balls that many, or most, college 3rd basement wouldn't have a shot at.

Rare opportunities.. He had always been a pretty inconsistent fielder/defensive player.

I wanted him to return because he has the potential to be a home run hitter, but I am not upset with him leaving.

I wish they could keep Elijah Cabell.

Damn you don't see project going toe to toe in threads often.

Oh, and...
