You misspelled Josh Smith.

Unless Turang makes it to campus Josh Smith is getting the first shot at SS. There may be a change made later but he's going to be at SS first day of fall

Seriously doubt that now that Slaughter is going pro.

3B will be easier on his physically & they can leave Hughes at SS

Lol no chance. Kid hasn’t improved one bit.

Well that’s just not true. He started striking out less and getting on base more later in the season. He absolutely could have been an All American if he finally got it clicking. Kid has more talent than anyone on the team not named Cabrera.

But I guess he’d rather take the money and not risk having a bad season next year. Could have gone either way

I’m aware. I thought for sure no one could miss my point. I forgot where I am for a second.

I think Hal Hughes is our opening day shortstop.

What's with the Slaughter hate? Wasn't he one of the few Tigers to actually contribute offensively in the postseason?

I can’t take a Hughes/Broussard combo up the middle again. Want more power there

If anything Slaughter going pro and Cabell not coming makes it more likely that Smith starts at SS.

You just lost two legitimate power threats. You're going to want another big bat in the lineup.

If Turang makes it to campus and Hal Hughes is our starting shortstop opening day, I’ll question Mainieris sanity.

Slaughter has been the rant's punching bag all year for whatever reason.

It's possible but if that happens then it means that Josh proved he couldn't handle the position defensively in fall ball.

The coaching staff is going to try to get Josh in at SS

You'll have plenty of big bats in the lineup. You could have Smith, Watson, Cabrera, Willis, Garza, and Beloso all in the lineup. That's 6 legitimate power threats.

Sounds like our infield will be the area with the most “ifs” and need for player improvement

I think it goes all the way back to early last year when he was striking out a lot. Some people don't seem to be aware that a player can improve.

We return our top 3 guys as measured by SLG%(Cabrera, Dup, Watson), as well as josh Smith & Bryce Jordan. That’s a good start.

Beloso I can get a shot at 1st

Hughes will hit better.
