I had no idea actually, he was a little before my time. Just remember hearing he was really good as a freshman

He would have played as true freshman (probably not a starter) but had an injury to his ulna nerve (funny bone nerve) that knocked him out his freshman year.

Boom! Lee was not ruined by overexposure as a freshman. He just wasn't very good.

he was a QB who had bad habits such as throwing off his back foot which resulted in 16 int's in 8 games as a redshirt freshman. he had a strong arm but was a bit of a head case.

JLee had everything you'd want from a solid QB recruit. He was never adequately coached here.
If there was any sort of head case issue from him it was due to what Les did to him.

People love to throw everything at Lee for the reasons why the 2008 team sucked. The defense was awful and couldn't stop a nose bleed. People like to forget but the offense was actually pretty decent with Lee at QB in 2008. We had a great O Line and Charles Scott tore it up at running back. The defense was an absolute disgrace and didn't help Lee any.

lee threw 4 int's vs bama in 2008. and LSU still almost won.
he threw 16 int's in 8 games. the defense sucked but lee was a total disaster at QB.

LSU was 55th in total offense. LSU was 112 in 2009 and 86 in 2010.

LSU was 86 in 2011. The offense everyone on the Rant claims was spectacular.

It’s so ridiculous everyone wants to point to Lee

Miles took over the offense in 08 according to Byrd and they knew they were all screwed

you cant 'jarret lee' Brennan due to Brennen seems to actually be a talented QB. So your argument is based on a false premise.

Jarrett Lee sucked, he couldn't beat out Jefferson. If Myles is on that level, then this is going to be a dumpster fire.

Lamar Jackson started as a true freshman with somewhere around 9 of the 11 offensive starters being first time starters or brand new. He finished the season with 2800 total yards and 23 TDs. He completely missed the Syracuse game, got hurt after his first play went for 45 yards vs Virginia, and had only 2 plays vs Clemson. That means that he had around 2700 total yards (1800 passing) and 21 TDs in only 10 games as a true freshman behind an OL that had 5 new starters and a receiving corps that brought back only one player that had more than 9 receptions the year before. Oh yeah, he was around 6'3 195 compared to Brennan's being around 6'3 195.

STOP WITH THIS bullshite BABYING

Y'all act like these are freshman in high school. Lee was a friggin redshirt freshman with already primed junior and senior WRs, really good junior TE, with a top level OL, and two 2 top shelf college RBs. That was his fault alone that he threw that many ints. He was freaking loaded offensively and that was before Miles was afraid to throw the ball over the middle.

The starting WRs need to change, the offense needs to be more wide open, diverse, and pass oriented, and the QB needs to be Myles Brennan.

Dude has us 12-0 and ripe for a Natty......but Les had that JJ love for some reason and split the locker room. The start of where we are today in the LSU down fall!

Lol, we wouldn't have even been in the discussion had he not pulled Lee during the Bama game. We played a bunch of mediocre and bad defense in 2011, and if you don't believe me, go look it up. All Lee had to do was manage the situation and not go off script, and he did that until we had to actually face a good defense. The fact is we lost once that year, and it was to Bama in the NCG. starting Lee would have not given us a win no matter how much you cry about it. In fact he would have did even worse than JJ, which is hard to believe, I know.

As bad as lee was against Alabama I still think he should have been put in the game on 1/9/12 to see what he could do. Would he had led some epic come back? Doubtful , but we’ll never know.

I was quite impressed with the lil' booger Saturday night. The timing by the staff was a little bad, but he gained quite an amount of confidence. Then, true to form.....he messed up with an INT. As to be expected from a youngster.

But please let's not just THROW him to the wolves. Subtle playtime.....small confidence boosters.....slow progression as he comes into his own.

I'd rather make an investment for the next 4 years with the promise I saw. Etling is our QB.

How does bama and UGA play true freshman and have success? Poor coaching prior to when the season starts is our problem. I am hoping the for best for the rest of the season but it is near Baptism by Fire time.

Wasn't Jalen Hurts first play ever a fumbled snap?

Yet, he played that entire game and the rest of the year. You can't coach the freshman out of freshmen.

Nor can you teach experience. But you can provide opportunities.

He didn't mess up.

The poorly coached WR ran the wrong route.
