I was quite impressed with the lil' booger Saturday night. The timing by the staff was a little bad, but he gained quite an amount of confidence. Then, true to form.....he messed up with an INT. As to be expected from a youngster.

But please let's not just THROW him to the wolves. Subtle playtime.....small confidence boosters.....slow progression as he comes into his own.

I'd rather make an investment for the next 4 years with the promise I saw. Etling is our QB.

I said this earlier, he is definitely more talented than Jarret but with this O line he will be traumatized and hospitalized by the end of the month

The pick that was dropped was his mistake.

The receiver owned up to running the wrong route on the actual interception.

he almost had two picks in a short period, that floater to the sideline should been picked off

Brennan is a stud but he needs a little more time

Lee was a head case from the beginning. Let's stop making every freshman quarterback comparison a 1:1 to him.

Our fans think our players, especially QBs, are so mentally weak. Some guys actually learn being thrown into the fire compared to others. Many colleges around the league have true freshman QBs playing. Why are our QBs so mentally unstable?

Agreed. I believe that Breenan is way more prepared to play. That's not really a knock on Lee. The QBs coming out of high school are more prepared with all of the camps and what not.

You snowflakes need to get over 2008. Not every QB is mentally weak like Pick 6 Lee was.

We haven't had anyone that can truly develop a QB. Its not like we have Jimbo on staff

Very well put... I don't trust that O-line to protect him

Let him get a few snaps per game to grow and learn, but not get killed because of a deficient line

Of all years this is probably one of the worst ones to start a true freshman QB, the O line is bad.

Brennan does releasees the ball much quicker but it still wouldn't end well for him

I disagree... kinda. Jarrett Lee was not scarred by the whole pick-6 thing, Miles was.

Freshmen do freshmen things. Especially pure passers. If you play him, such things WILL happen. If everybody accepts it and tell's themselves that it can be fixed, NOT avoided, we'll all be better off.

I like they kept letting him play after the near-pick six. He was given full reigns for a couple series, and they kept their word.

Oh, in regards to the OL...
We're in a division with AU and Bama. We play UF every year. He better get used to pressure. He better get used to getting hit (hopefully only occasionally). If he can't shake it off and perform, better to know now.

True. But the fact that his decision making continued to be...well... decisive after the close call says alot to me. Wouldn't have minded seeing him after the INT to see how he handled it. Davis did tell him it was on him (Kudos) and it did look like they were discussing it on the sideline (kudos to them all), that's what it takes. No blame game, "we all fricked up, let's not do that again".

Should we not field a QB then? I'm not disagreeing that our coaching staff gives us 0 faith in developing a QB, but if we don't have anyone to develop them then a QB sitting on the sidelines won't help this.

you're leaving out his senior year, where he was very good.

He played the majority of the year, and had the highest QB rating in the SEC.

This whole "protect the fragile psyche of the freshman QB" is outdated. Freshman QBs play all over the nation. If a guy has it, let him play.

Find me better, proven QB development and I'll willingly melt the snowflake.

Go ahead. I'll wait.

it is part of the learning curve.
Miles pulled Lee when he threw an int at the Bama even though we was undefeated till then .. can't recall if he played again.

Dude has us 12-0 and ripe for a Natty......but Les had that JJ love for some reason and split the locker room. The start of where we are today in the LSU down fall!
