Can we still identify (by name) and point out when a player is subpar, underperforming, underwhelming or just a complete liability during play? I understand we don’t have to hurl insults, but there’s a fine line between “just kids” and SEC athletes with what is essentially free agency and a salary.

You suck at your job. You don't donate enough. You're a disgrace to the alumni base that LSU pushes out. You should be ashamed to type something like that. Your mom shouldn't have let you cry as much as she did as a child, because you're hurt and it shows.

(I don't know you, know what you're going through, know what you are trained to do, but bc I don't like something that you're doing, that I'm not trained to do, I'm going to come to a forum with other people who don't know, at the highest level, what it is that you do...just to get off some feelings.)

Taking a step back, don't you see how silly that looks for me to be critical of you. It's not hard to be a decent human and not give Monday Morning QB judge/jury critiques to kids playing a kids game, doing the best that they can.

This forum is mostly keyboard warriors who never played a meaningful minute of athletics in their lives, but feel they are experts in every sport. Unfortunately, this accounts for most people out there in the real world as well. It is the reason why I usually watch games by myself or with the wife (who knows more about football than most men). So much of the reasoning from "fans" is nonsensical to anyone with any real knowledge of the game.

Need to elaborate. And to be fair all fans can be critical of a players performance. If a player is playing bad it is not insulting to say they are playing bad. Where I agree is personal insults are unnecessary but again if a player is playing bad or poorly it is completely fair to be critical of their play.

If a player gets butthurt because fans/media are harsh on the players performance then they are part of the problem in todays society where people are not mentally tough enough to handle criticism.

If his feelings get hurt because people on a message board says he sucks, I got news for him, he's going to hear that at every stop in his career. Said "star" needs to toughen up. Nothing is given, it's only earned, even criticism. He probably used that as a chip on his shoulder to get better and become the star. We know how to raise champions here, and it's mostly from negative reinforcement. Glad we could help.

Well then this fictional player better hope he doesn't get drafted by the Eagles, Giants, Saints, Packers, Cowboys, or anyone in the NFL really.

Lol, no it's not. LSU is a bottom 5 SEC team.

Considering many who post on here donate money to our athletics programs I think it's fair for them to say negative things about players, coaches, and the overall product- in any sport.

don’t let your opinion of yourself get overinflated. There’s probably only a few handful of people that post here that actually donate to LSU and or TAF.

Even then that doesn’t give anyone carte blanche to act the arse as though they own the place.

And nil and the transfer portal.

There's like a few hundred active posters, that actually type messages and not just read vs a million fans.

No. He said star. There isn't a player on the defense that became a star this year that wasn't one last year already like Perkins that I can think of. Unless, it's someone that was OK that feels like a star bc of whatever NIL they just for to not lose them.

If you are going to bask in the glory of the over-the-top adulation the adult fans give you as a player when things are good, you better be willing to deal with the over-the-top criticism when things aren't. These aren't kindergarteners. They are young adults playing sports that that generates millions in revenue with, now, they themselves often getting a hefty income to play that sport.

I'm not saying anyone SHOULD criticize a player. I'm just saying these types of "Leave Brittany Alone!" posts are ridiculous. If you don't want to face potential criticism don't participate in an activity that prominently puts you in the public eye. Otherwise, ignore the criticism and perform as best you can.

So you give money to LSU athletics and attend games to earn the right to be publically critical of 18 to 22 year olds? You do know that there is a lot more to life.

There's nothing wrong with being critical, but some people start taking personal shots at players over a game. When it becomes personal, you've crossed the line. Let it be about their play on the field and nothing else.
