Potential good thing or bad?

We have struggled many years after bama - demoralizing losses, injuries mounting, tired. Hard to get up the following week after big game etc.

Being that it’s UF and the hatred there, does that make it easier for the team to refocus? Does a bama team without Saban take as much of a physical toll on our team?

It’s a big 2 week stretch for our playoff hopes.

Florida plays at Texas the week before and play us in the middle of a gauntlet on their schedule. We'll be fine.

Florida could be dealing with an interim coach by then which is a mixed bag. We saw TAMU play harder for their interim but have also seen teams completely quit when their season is in the crapper.

This is such a myth. Yes we struggled post Bama during the latter part of the CLM era but we have not struggled post Bama since 2015. Thats almost a decade ago.

Including putting up 52 pts last yr the week after a bama loss against the very team he is asking about our chances against. smh

If we win an emotional game against Bama the week before, the potential to come out flat against Florida will probably increase, particularly if their season isn’t going well. I’ve heard it referred to as the psychology of the schedule. Those are the types of games where BK earns his money. It’s easy to coach when everyone is jacked up and hyper focused for Bama, OM etc. Going to Arky after OM has similar challenges.

meh. We could be flat for a quarter, but we still should beat Florida by 21+

3 losses after the Bama game since 2000, two to Arky(2014, 2021), 1 to Ole Miss(2015). Played Florida twice and won both.

There were 3 or 4 close games (mostly Arkansas) but also several blowouts. Kelly has had one of each, the flu game against Arky that was a nail-biter and the blowout last season vs Florida.

It’s not good or bad.

We played Florida after Bama last year and it worked out ok.

I don't think theres any way it's a good thing but that game will come down to more of the state of UF at that time than LSU. They've got alot of games that will be les than TD spread and could really go either way. By that point, Napier could be on the hottest seat in the country or people might be calling them the biggest surprise of the CFB season. They get alot of tough games at home and that Miami game could set an early tone, one way or the other.

Depends on if by some miracle, Florida is actually better than what many have thought. I don't think they do much and finish 6-6 at best, but so many talking heads think that they could be a really good team despite probably still going 7-5 or 6-6. That could be true, but it could also be just people covering their bases.

Ehh, I used to believe this too, but looking back, that wasn't really a thing.

Take for instance 2014-2017. We got our butts kicked vs Arkansas two years in a row after losing to Bama in 2014 and 2015. The next 2 years playing Arkansas, we beat them by 23+ points each time.

We beat 9-4 TAMU by 24 after losing to Bama in even more demoralizing fashion in 2013.

In 2012 we beat 8-5 Miss St by 20 points after losing a heartbreaker (and possibly cheated out of), to Bama.

In 2018 we beat a bad Arkansas team on the road close after a beatdown Bama gave us the week before.

2020 after Bama lost, after our star freshman TE just opted out (WR Marshall opted out before the Bama game), we beat a top 10 Florida team when we were trash that year.

We lost in 2021 by 3 points to a damn good Arkansas team despite us being really bad.

Point 1. I think this current staff and current group knows not to take anybody lightly. We did it several times in 2022 (FSU, Tennessee, TAMU), and we also did it in 2023 once (FSU). Many of the guys were on those teams.

Point 2. I think the mindset of the Saban less Bama team will definitely be less physical, also less sound. I still think Deboer was just way too early a pick for the Bama job. I fully expect the decline to start year one.

Depends. Let's say we are somehow undefeated and beat Bama. Losing to UF will not end our playoff chances nor SEC championship chances. It all depends on the record.

don't know why you're getting downvoted. It's VERY difficult to get emotionally up the week after Bama, especially if we have to go on the road.

Having to go to the Swamp the week after Bama is a very tough job. We could definitely drop that game.

Sorry, but I don't wear the P&G glasses - I just deal with reality.

We needed a bye week after Bama to rest our players.

Bama isn’t going to be the juggernaut everyone thinks they’ll be. No huge difference in talent level and DeBoer isn’t going to be a miracle worker. Not saying it won’t be a hard battle but I’d be more worried if we played Ole Miss that weekend.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just middle of the pack unless somebody really got to Milroe and made him way better.

A year late with this question. You know we did the exact same thing last year right?
