What I find really concerning is that none of his high school recruits are key contributors to this years team or last years. His best players were brought in by Maineri and had 2+ year under him or were from the portal. I will admit that Johnson did have some to do with their development but now that we are more reliant on his players, we aren’t nearly as good. The talent is there, according to high school rankings, but where is the development? Once again, I am referring to his high school recruits, which should be the foundation to every team’s success.

Well LesterEarl had an interesting thread pointing out Maineri's last class.

LINK

I think it's too early to be concerned. That was a rough group.

This team just doesn’t have any spark.. which imo is part of coaching as well, walk to many people and can only score off of the long ball. Its sickening to watch at the moment

Guys he developed players at Arizona. This is only his 3rd year after losing a large portion of the team from a natty.

Idk what to think. Even if they pull off the win tonight, this should have been a run rule. If they have that midweek. Point stands, we should have skull drug these guys.

Yall talk like this is the third season jay Johnson has ever been a head coach. You do understand he has a track record of winning big and developing players at every stop he’s been, right?

Don’t we have a true freshman starting at second base?

You sure we have no high school recruits that are key contributors?

Help me understand how it isn't? My goodness. LSU just won a championship and y'all are over a coach who is likely to take some lumps with only 1 returning starter.

Again look at the link I posted and tell me what there was to develop?

These other guys are all Freshmen, so yes, it is too early to question their player development. So give me specifics please.

I think they are a an above average team. Lost alot of players from last year and still finding their way. Unfortunately, this year isn’t the year to have to find your way in the SEC.

At the end of the day, they don’t have the firepower on offense to compete with some of the SEC schools this year.

LSU was better in ‘22 than they were in ‘21 and better in ‘23 than they were in ‘22. Looked like good development to me.

LSU lost:

- 3 year starter, All-American 1B
- 3 year starter SS
- 5th year senior, utility man who was absolutely nails for the last 3 years
- 3 year starter, All-Everything, best position player LSU has ever had CF
- Saturday Starting P
- Friday, All-Everything, arguably best College pitcher ever, staring P

And that doesn’t even go into the bullpen. Yet people here really expected them to not miss a beat

Can you read?

I Clearly state high school recruits. Name me one that has lived up to the hype and is a key contributor this year or last year?
