I think it was better than the line says it was. He was inconsistent early and not hitting spots which is understandable pitching in his first real game in awhile. When he did finally get ahead early in the counts Southern was getting blooper after blooper to fall just trying to fight off pitches.

Tried to tell people the other day he’s not the same pitcher since his injury

This is a dumb comment. You don’t know this.

I’ve seen Hurd pitch in the fall and spring. That was probably his worst outing in an LSU uniform so far.

He’s still a work in progress.

That isn't exactly good.

He's got the stuff but today was a piss poor performance tbh. He couldn't hit the zone and when he did southern hit it.

Hopefully he can turn it around but today really didn't show us much.

I mean it’s 2-0 Southern in the 3rd

1o, bases loaded. LH hitter up.

Dugas is playing basically behind the pitcher and the dude hits a routine double play ground ball into the 4 hole that dribbles into RF to score 2.

The BB weren’t good but they didn’t hit him hard at all. His stuff was there; you could see it flash

Rewatching the game now I think he had some sweating issues with his hand early on

Bruh, the kid had a bad day and our offense made it indifferent. He’ll bounce back and be fine.

Said he played at a big time program, but they had no fans.

Remember that regional at UCLA some years ago? One of the top baseball programs in the country and their stadium seats about 1200.

With all the professional and college sports, not to mention the myriad other recreational activities in southern California, college baseball is waaay down the list.

He was shaky at first but started to settle down. He got up in the count a lot but couldn't get that pitch just off the plate to get them to swing. Would throw it over the plate and southern got some lucky bloopers on him. He'll be fine with a couple more outings.

Struggled early and just couldn’t recover.

The stuff is really good. Just needs to start off better.

Missed high early, then didn't miss at all once he found the zone. Just threw too many strikes when ahead of batters and they were able to poke some hits. Little was impressive.

Command wasn’t there and they were getting hits when he had to throw strikes. Walked a few and fell behind a bunch.

This is partly true. He couldn't throw strikes for about an inning and a half, but after that he threw almost nothing but strikes, and that became an entirely different problem, as he was throwing 0-2 and 1-2 pitches right down the middle. Some of the hits were pretty soft, but even on those, he left the ball in the middle of the plate, when he shouldn't have been in the zone.

He just had no command, whether it was missing the plate, or missing over the middle. Hope he irons it out.
