yeah, I have a personal band in my living room, and I can listen to live music anytime.

Meanwhile, I don't own a CD player or iPod so I only get to hear recordings when I go to football games. Please don't ruin it for us, Tiger Band! Let's hear a fricking clip of Metallica or AC/DC one more fricking time!

Piped in music is for schools like texas, whose band only has 2 songs.

Everyone my friends that comes into town for a game says our band is the awesome because they never stop playing. The only music in during LSU games should be the band

I am 20, so frick off with old people are just up tight.

Thanks - great view and video.

Now to the business at hand (never like to see a piped-in music (PIM) thread come down the pike and not weigh in on my dislike for it).

First, I saw my first fame in ’70 and can honestly say not one single note that I have ever heard from TGBFTL has become old. They are great. They belong in TS. PIM doesn’t.

Conversely, I can’t say that I have ever enjoyed a single note from PIM in TS (ok – maybe something before the start of the game. Maybe – need to think about it some). But from KO to the end of the halves – none whatsoever.

If we want an atmosphere as vanilla as someone else just keep the PIM coming. On the other hand, if we want TS to be unique and the continued envy of the CFB world, then flush PIM.

Consider this: one of the greatest moments in TS history occurred after UGA scored a TD late in the 4th qtr in ’03. How did TS respond? With a sustained “LSU, LSU . . . LSU” so much that Mark Richt calls it the loudest moment he’s experienced. NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD PIM BEEN PLAYED.

Let’s hope PIM doesn’t steal something from TS we’ll never get back.

This phrase has always made me as if the school literally piped the music into the PA system from the ground like they do for water in the sinks and toilets.

Forgot about this--Callin' Baton Rouge before the game should stay. And I wouldn't mind Saturday Night's Alright, if they didn't switch it midway from Elton John to that god awful Nickleback version or whoever the hell it is.

I love when they play Callin Baton Rouge, I don't mind the Saturday Night's Alright, but my personal opinion on the rest of the PIM is that it needs to go back whereever it came from. I wouldn't mind if they piped in songs when Tiger Band was down getting ready for halftime and their 3rd quarter break, but I would rather it be all the different cheers and Touchdown for LSU if we scored. That being said, they could pipe in a song if there was a commercial timeout too. Other than that, we have the GREATEST band and they should be providing all of the music played in Death Valley. You can't tell me that PIM gets both you and the players more pumped up than when you hear those first four notes of pregame (and at the start of the 4th quarter).. Keep PIM out!!

yeah you rite

What is TS, the freakin' Superdome -- I don't know if they still do it (don't get me wrong, the Superdome atmosphere is great but it ain't college), but they used to run these Ruth's Chris Steak House commercials on the big screens and the steak sizzling sound was really loud ... look, piped in music SUCKS in general, let the band play ... just think about Penn St and that crappy White Stripes sh!t they play over and over til you want to hurl.

The following is a response from the LSU Admin to an e-mail I submitted last Fall. If you have as much disdain for PIM as do I then I would encourage you to write (cogently and respectfully) and voice your disapproval as well.

The current LSU Admin has a vision for TS but it's not one I fully share. His suggestion that PIM would not be necessary in the UF game is misleading as PIM was played extensively last yr during the UF game.

quote:

Thank you for your email. The pre-recorded music is meant to supplement the band, not to replace it. It is never intended to play over the band, though we had one miscommunication last week when the band played and the pre-recorded music started. The band always has priority. However there are times in the game when the band does not play and the music is intended to fill that time. As you said in your email, with new television agreements, breaks can be very long and dead-time can be prolonged. The big games like Florida and Alabama – and the Georgia game that you mentioned – carry themselves as far as atmosphere. But there are a number of times during games when pre-recorded music can add to the event, such as last week when Jump Around was played and the student section got very involved in the song.

Your email will be forwarded to our marketing department so they are aware of these very reasonable concerns. We will continue to play pre-recorded music but will be careful to play the appropriate amount at the appropriate times.

Thank you for taking the time to write.
