Wow what a great post, thank you. It’s crazy to see photos of a place that’s no longer there but you’re so familiar with that you immediately feel transported back to your childhood just by looking at it. The Old Box was awesome!

Doesn't feel that long ago, but also feels like another time entirely.
The good ol' days

Sat at several baseball camps in those bleachers in the late 90s/ early 2000s while Beetle told us that if our stomach hung over our belt at our age we had no shot at ever playing college ball. After they fed us McDonalds Cheeseburgers for lunch and Domino’s for supper.

Still hate that they tore it down and couldn’t just modernize it.
Duplicate and extend the existing Grandstand all the way down both lines, then renovate/modernize everything on the interior and exterior.
That's all they needed to do.
Still don't understand the thinking of demolishing that historic structure.
That was a totally asinine decision by the "Powers That Be" who made it.

Oh man seeing the metal bleacher seats behind first base and right field brings back so many memories. My senior year of high school many games were watched from there. I also remember getting talks from Beetle Baily and Mike Bianco right behind those same bleachers during Skip Bertman baseball camp. Thanks for sharing.

I still can't believe they didn't do anything at the former box site to memorialize it. They could have put a marker where home plate was and made a small area to mark the significance of the Box. There's just concrete. Sad.

Thank you for posting this. Was hoping to find a picture of our old seats, and was pleased to able to spot my father and I sitting in grandstand at the place where so many foundational memories were made.
This season certainly sucks, but - for those of us old enough to have lived through and remember it - we are all very fortunate to have the life experiences watching the growth and rise of the LSU baseball program that reigned in a dynasty in the 90s and eventually became the preeminent college baseball program in the country, which it remains today. This is a mere bump in tRoad.

Thanks!
I was also at this game. I remember Skip bringing out a very large (maybe made out of some type of plastic) baseball.
He got the whole stadium to yell at one time together and the idea was to trap the noise inside the baseball and release it into the new stadium. Haha

And brought the “super fans” onto the field to do it. Twas absurdly corny.
