2. MYLES BRENNAN, LSU

LSU has gotten off to a brutal 1-2 start, but the last man to blame is new starting quarterback Myles Brennan. He produced an elite graded performance above 90.0 in LSU’s loss to Missouri this past weekend, featuring six big-time throws and not a single turnover-worthy play. That has helped bring Brennan’s season passing grade to 88.0, ranking fourth among Power 5 quarterbacks.
He may have missed a few receivers downfield in the first couple of games, but he was aggressive this past weekend and it clearly paid off. Brennan also proved to be fearless under pressure. Against Mizzou, he actually posted a higher grade on pressured dropbacks than any SEC quarterback did when kept clean in Week 6. He completed 11 of 16 passes under pressure for 248 yards, two touchdowns and a near-perfect 151.0 passer rating. Brennan is bound to regress in that area, but it’s still impressive for a first-year starter. He may not ever be Joe Burrow, but Breenan is exceeding expectations.

Goddamn ridiculous that our defense has been so bad that his talent has been wasted

Also all of those pussies on here calling for Finley after week 1 have been awfully quite

He has far and away exceeded my expectations. I thought he would be 2013 Mettenberger good. But, nothing like this. I was pretty disappointed that he didn't go out of bounds when he got hurt. Hopefully he's learned that lesson and he will be able to play next week.

Just joking. The melt would be something, tho.

He's been really, really good after that first half of the Miss St game. He's thrown some high level balls, even under pressure, some of which were dropped. A large majority of our problems have been on the defensive side of the ball, but I'd really like us to fix the 3rd down and red zone issues.

The ball he threw against Mizzou when he scrambed right all the way to the sideline under pressure and threw down the sideline was an NFL caliber throw

Looked like a carbon copy of Joe Burrow on that particular play.

Brennan has exceeded all expectations this year. He has been great. Offense is not the problem (even though I don’t love the play calling at times)

Just think how good he would be if the linemen keep him clean, we had any kind of a running game, and the defense would make stops so we got the ball more.
I forgot what if we didn't drop at least 15 balls. Last year you could count on 1 hand the drops we had.

I member when so many slapdicks on this board were saying he wasn’t the guy and he’d never be good and were calling for him to be benched in game 1.

Brennan played fairly well last year in garbage time. I expected this year to be up and down with him where he would make some really impressive plays and then some really boneheaded plays. That’s to be expected with a QB in their first yearas a starter. He’s definitely got potential to be really good if he keeps working hard and he and his receivers get a good rhythm going with each other. O line has got to mature and give him time. I don’t thinkhe will ever be the runner Burrow was so he can’t rely on that to get a first down like Burrow could, but he could still get you a yard or two when needed.

But the offense sucks
That's all I hear

It's the defense that sucks
No leadership.
It was always going to be a year too soon but the defense has given up

I think the #1 SEC QB is the composite of “Whoever is throwing against LSU’s secondary this week”.

Brennan certainly exposed the nega QB Gurus on the board.
I predicted he would get forty TDs, before the Covid affected season altered the number of games.

After the Mississippi State game, many posters identified things that he would have to fix. It looked like he had terrible fundamentals and indecisiveness. It turns out the people that said it was first game jitters and inexperience were correct. If he plays like he did against Mizzou, LSU beats Mississippi State.

The last 2 games he looked solid under pressure, and made throws with confidence. He trusted his protection a lot more, kept his eyes downfield, and got rid of the ball much sooner.

I hope that all of the serious injury talk is all nonsense rumors and we get to see what he can do the rest of the season.
