With him having all spring to get up to speed, Johnson stands a decent chance to backup Brennan.

Based on early information Johnson is going to be pretty good and may well be number two when the season starts.

According to Joe Burrow, Johnson is way ahead of where he was at that time with respect to reading defenses.

Nonetheless, he didn't get to observe them for enough time to make any kind of judgment and said it would be an interesting competition.

Not Parrish
Dude will probably never see meaningful snaps at lsu.

How do you know? Is that just your gut feeling? As I have heard LSU insiders say he was better than expected and other LSU insiders say he isn't SEC quality.

Max Johnson ft. Cameraman who needs to piss

Some highlights of Johnson at LSU's camp last summer. I think the best part is the cameraman at 50 seconds in declaring he needs to take a piss. I guess CBS forgot to edit it out.

And why Johnson and not Parrish or Finely. Am I missing something here? Hmm...

My guess is that Parrish did not pass much in HS. His SR season he threw for 754 yards, 5 TDs and no INTs. He also split snaps with the other HS QB. That's not to say he isn't capable, but he just has limited experience.

TJ as I mentioned above was not in a great system. I believe his coach was an option guy and Finley is a pure pocket passer. His SR season he completed 53% of his passes for 21 TDs and 9 INTs. TJ has a big arm and from a body type, arm talent and skill set standpoint he's very similar to Jamarcus Russell, but Russell was more developed coming out of HS.

Max made the biggest jump his SR year and improved his completion percentage to 63% and 30TDs vs 5 INTs. Being the kid of a SB QB doesn't hurt either from a development standpoint.

Parrish obviously has the jump being on campus, but he lacks the in game experience the others have despite it being only at the HS level.

Joe Brady also made his debut in that video but at the time nobody knew who he was.

Max Johnson is the backup. Straight out an LSU staff members mouth. Bookmark it if you want.

It will definitely not be Parrish. You can book it.

Max Johnson. He's fairly polished for an incoming freshman. Don't think Parrish will be on this team for long.

If I were to just guess, I'd probably put my money on one of the freshmen.

I think Parrish will be the backup. If not he will probably transfer.
I wouldn't be surprised if Parish got some playing time, if he is ready. If he is a good runner, and I've heard that he is, he could get some opportunities on short yardage and gold line situations.
