Did any ND QB actually grow and progress under Kelly? Not that I can think of. Many, e.g., Golson, Kizer, Wimbush, actually regressed.

Any coach that can get Ian Book drafted in the 4th round, that’s a great coach.

ND is far from a power house, days are long gone from Ara and Devine, you could also say Lou. They haven’t won a NC in 35 years, since Lou, Kelly’s been closer than anyone hired.

After Kelly’s first season, most everyone was saying, he’s a great fit. Won 10 games, won the West, best bama, played in the SEC championship and won a major Bowl.

There is some truth to the right fit, O and Les won NC, Saban was he the right fit? Kim Mulkey, is one of us, won in her second year. Jay Johnson, won a NC in his second year, is he the right fit.

The LSU AD knows who’s the right fit, it’s his job. The AD knew Kelly from way back, had interviewed him before, knew what he was getting, knew the fit.

Growing up I always pulled for ND, still do. I’d love to see them meet in a game with the Tigers.

Kelly was left with a cluster, you win the West in year one, only two places to go, win again, or fall back.

Long season to go, let’s see the finished product.

Without Trevor Lawrence who had COVID. Got absolutely murdered later that same season by Lawrence too.

I understand exactly what you are trying to convey. I’m La raised, LSU alumn and took no offense to any of your comments. Most importantly, I think you’re 100% correct with your observations. I like the professionalism he’s brought to the FB program but loathe the lack of nasty, physicality, and raw fight we don’t seem to have w/ our players. Just watch the player interviews; you can see it in their demeanor. “Neutered” is an excellent description. Football is controlled conflict; we need to build warriors. CBK is not building warriors; looks like he’s building bankers.

I can buy this.

Somebody within that program needs to nut up and tell Kelly that he can discipline how he wants Sunday through Thursday, but Friday and Saturday?

Boys from the boot, frick 'em all.

Lol, that would be, “are you a racist?”

Strange that you read the OP and your mind automatically goes there. Could it be that YOU are, in fact, the racist? That’s where I’d put my money.

Part of why BK was hired was to change the culture. Our old culture was about to get us the death penalty. Can’t ignore rape and abuse and call it the Louisiana culture.

Even taking this as true, it's still hard to make the case that Book really progressed at ND. He was basically the same QB as a senior that he was as a sophomore. He always played overly cautious, and he never developed the ability to make the more complicated reads.

BK isnt trying to turn LSU into ND choir boys. He's trying to turn LSU into a disciplined football team. More like Alabama. He's of the Nick Saban mindset that values process and preparation and doesnt like all the distractions and the look at me BS we had under Miles and O. Those teams were fun to watch but also frustrating because of the undisciplined style, and honestly most of those teams outside of 2019 underachieved relative to the talent on the roster.

BK is the 4th winningest active coach. Quit acting like he's an idiot because of one bad game.

That's a good point draco, I wasn't old enough to remember the Saban era, my image of LSU is all Miles and O haha. So I could be dead wrong and this approach works in time! Just feels like there was no energy or juice when we started getting behind with FSU and I feel like that tone gets set up top

Interesting. The thing that always concerned me with kelly is he went 4-8 in year seven at ND. How did that happen? what was the reaction of fans in ND? If he ever went 4-8 or even 5-7 at LSU. people would be calling for his head.

I didnt compare him to saban. I said they have a similar mindset. You can tell that by interviews and the attention to detail. Seems like you're just wanting to shite on our coach because of one bad game, acting like he's not even in Saban's league even though BK beat Saban in year 1
