Have you watched him play? He isn't getting better and makes awful decisions.

He's barely played. There are tons of examples of QBs growing into great players as they get older.

I’d rather see him play. Regardless whether he red shirts or not, he will have the option to leave after his third year. Play the man.

I would prefer Howard try to keep his RS. It may have been better to let Nuss work through his issues Saturday and not waste one of Howard's 4 games.

So what other 4 games this year would he have a chance to play in?

If he does well the next two years he isn't sticking around to be a 5 year QB. I think this entire RS thing is overblown. Don't burn it if you don't NEED to but if you need him to play I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Why? If he's good enough now and Daniels falters, play him now. If he ends up being as good as everyone thinks he will be, he won't be here in 2026 or maybe even 2025 anyway.

Guys who are stud QBs are going to go to the NFL as soon as possible. He only has to wait three years after high school to go. Why waste one of those years redshirting him if you end up needing him this year?

Cullotta would sell his soul to have an inside sauce.. As of now, I wouldn’t put much stock to any intel he claims to have.

Getting second team reps vs New Mexico and UAB plus one other team if we are up big does not equate to burning the red shirt.

This past saturday he was basically with the 3s or at least mixed 2s and 3s.

Yeah this makes no sense. If he went from being quarterback 1B to 3rd string getting basically no game reps after 2 quarters of game time, then I'm more worried about what the coaches have been looking at in practice.

Wanting to get HOward some reps with the 2s is not the same as moving Nuss to 3rd string. I would suspect it would mean they just get both QBs reps with the 2s rather than Howard with what i think was a patchwork 2/3 group he had Saturday night.

Of course Jordy probably didn't get this info from any actual coach, so it's probably not true.

There is always this and also that he may spin anything he may have gotten to something not quite like what the coaches said.

Why? You planning on him being here 5 years?

It isn’t like it’s that far fetched. Walker could win the job at a young age but only project to be a late first/second/third round pick and decide to stay in school and complete his eligibility? Why is that so crazy of an idea?

Jordy was pushing the entire offseason and even up until this past game that Nuss should be the starter… now he’s flipping to Howard what a tool

Maybe this is all about a little motivation for Nuss to take better care of the ball?

That 1st interception against Southern was enough to keep him out of any meaningful snaps for the rest of the year. It was a beyond stupid decision that shows he just does not care about ball security or team concepts.

And I am far from a JD fan. But if JD has to sit out a series or two to recover from a hard hit, Nuss is the last player I would put in the game to spell him. If Walker isn't available I would go walk on or wildcat instead.

Could be. Kenny Pickett just played five years at Pitt. There are some really good QBs that have. A guy can be a really, really good college QB and not be projected high enough in the NFL draft to leave early. Some may just want to stay to school and use their eligibility list Justin Herbert just did at Oregon. Walker is a Louisiana kid and LSU legacy. It’s worth preserving his redshirt in case he is one of those guys.

It just doesn’t happen often/if at all.

If he’s here 5 years, then the next recruit here probably will be the guy who gets the job.

I’d play Walker as much as possible immediately. I don’t think Nussmeier is worth investing in.

What's the point of getting him reps with the 2nd team anyway? If we're forced to burn his redshirt he's gonna be playing with the 1st team. This sounds like some dumb shite Culotta made up

ROFL @ fans being worried about a player’s redshirt. If the coaches aren’t, why the hell are you?

Off the top of my head, I can give you Kenny Pickett and Justin Hebert just in the last few years.
