He said because of Nuss’s bad decisions last week, LSU was going to talk with Jamie Howard about getting Walker Howard some reps with the 2nd team

Who is “LSU”?

It may have been better to let Nuss work through his issues Saturday and not waste one of Howard's 4 games

Please tell me the other three games on this schedule that you see Howard playing. He won’t even play in four this year.

Play him and he should be the backup qb. Anybody think he’s going to be here five years? That redshirt doesn’t mean shite. It will never come into play.

Rickie Collins is on the way. If Nuss transfers, so be it.

He can still take some reps in practice as QB2 as he should. The only games we will probably play a backup in barring injury are NMST and UAB, and even UAB isn’t a given considering they’re a solid mid major team.

We will probably be nearly 40 point favorites vs NMST (they are horrendous). Give him the entire second half and re assess after. If he absolutely tears it up then obviously he’s your guy and the redshirt probably won’t matter.

Give him additional reps vs New Mexico & UAB.

Play Daniels all season as starter.

I don't see that there is a lot to disagree about.
I think most everybody wants Howard to red-shirt, if we can do so, in the best interest of the program and player.
But, he can play in four games and we should want him to get as much quality in-game time as possible.
AND, if something happened to Daniels, we need someone to come in who will not do silly things under center, like Nuss seems inclined to do.

I don't care that much about the red shirt. If he is that good he won't be around here long enough for the red shirt to matter. He will be in the pros 4 or 5 years from now.

This is why you don’t waste one of your 4 redshirt games for one or two series vs Southern. Say JD has to miss a few games or gets nicked a few times, total waste.

Called it after the Southern game. It's clear as day how much more comfortable and calm he looked on the field.

Barring injury, I can't imagine LSU dominating any SEC opponent this year so badly they need a backup to take a few snaps. This is a New Mexico and UAB mop-up duty situation.

You think that if Walker Howard plays well for 2 quarters against New Mexico State that means he is good enough to be a high round draft pick after 3 years? I hope he is a fantastic QB, but I'm not sure why so many people are so confident that he is going to be good enough to leave school early.

Ehh he handed off against Southern's backups. Not exactly telling us he's ready from that. Nuss just looked atrocious in the game.

Daniels loves to run the ball. But let's be honest, he's not that big of a guy. One good hit could knock him out of a game. We have to have the other quarterbacks ready to play on a moment's notice. I like the practice strategy of having three quarterbacks prepared and game-ready. It doesn't mean they will all be needed, but not having Howard ready would be a risk too big to take.

hard to imagine a new staff not embracing Nuss' competitive nature after young Garrett and his daddy decided he didn't want to play anymore after the Arkansas game. Courageous decision to skip out on Texas Bowl when his team needed him to hold on to his SR year in 2025 when I'm sure he'll be a Heisman front runner.

Let Nuss be back up fg holder.

We don’t have a good track record with QB commits out of high school. Walker should be the one that breaks the trend. Looks our QB commit for 2023 will be another project. Time to get our QB’s ready. Daniels only has one year after this.

No, I’m saying he will be your starter when Daniels leaves. We thought Nuss might be that guy which is why the redshirt was so important. If he’s passing Nuss already, then absolute worst case he will have 2 full years of eligibility as the starting QB. But like I said there’s only 2 non SEC games left, and even UAB isn’t a given we will be up more than a few touchdowns to get Howard in. He plays vs NMSU then can still play in 2 more games this year while maintaining the redshirt

New Mexico
UAB
Possibly coming in as relief in any of the conference games for whatever reason for a play/series/etc.
