People are saying Mekhi Wingo doesn’t have the size to play well in the NFL

However, he’s not that much different from Aaron Donald size-wise. Donald’s body is obviously much more shredded and he’s quicker. However, if Mingo got in the weight room and somehow improved his quickness, I think it’s possible that he could be a good DT in the NFL. He definitely showed flashes of greatness while at LSU.

Donald may be a one off or outlier.

Hard to compare him against the field.

However I don’t mind having some 6-1 guys that can get under the pad level and do their thing.

No one should be compared to Aaron Donald. Its just a fact, his size and frame usually does not pan out in the league. Wingo seemed upset on X that he wasnt not drafted. Probably got some bad info, should have stayed at LSU

Apparently it wasn't just the size but he's coming off some significant injuries as well.

He was drafted by the Detroit Lions late in the draft.

Are you really comparing wingo to Aaron Donald?

Wingo’s Size is about the only thing that is comparable to Donald

Cool. I’m just saying that it can be done if the other proper attributes are acquired. He likely will never be anywhere near Aaron Donald, but he can become a bonafide starter in the NFL.

See post above

Many dumb frick posters on here were comparing Kenny Hilliard to Brandon Jacobs in 2011, and those two are no more alike than Donald and Wingo.

They might as well allow undrafted players return to play college if they have remaining eligibility. I understand why they didn't before, but it's kind of an outdated rule in the NIL era.

He is similar size-wise & it’s possible he could be a good DT in the NFL.

However, Aaron Donald won just about every award possible his last year in college & was the 13th pick & 1st DT in the draft for a reason. Wingo was 189th & the 14th DT.

People somehow disagree that comparing Wingo to a DT with a 6 pack that benches 500 lbs is insane… it’s like comparing Aaron Anderson to Tyreke Hill.

I agree with this post except that it doesn’t apply to Wingo. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions.

If one of the best defensive players in nfl history can do it, anyone can

Can it be done? Sure. But there are FAR more undersized DTs that fail as opposed to being anywhere as good as Aaron Donald. Wingo didn't last until the 6th round because every NFL team was unreasonably biased against him. Just like Donald wasn't a first round pick because the Rams saw something the rest of the league didn't. Donald was dominant in his career at Pitt. For context, Donald's senior season stats alone were heads and shoulders better than Wingo's CAREER stats.

I hope Wingo has a great career. But this is the same logic used year after year when a short QB with average arm strength is taken in the later rounds and everyone tries to compare him to Drew Brees.

That is why Smith got drafted first. Measurables and potential.

People saying same thing about Daniels. If defense can catch him he’s gonna get hurt.

More LaRoi Glover than Aaron Donald.

He will do just fine with Dan Cambell in Detroit.
